Dewey's Read-a-Thon October 2016

I will as usual take part in this Read-a-Thon. This time my sister might not be able to take part but my husband has already signed up and will be reading with me.

I think I will stick to my usual goal and hope to read around 1000 pages in the 18 hours I am going to be awake.

Jane | 1438 comments Only just over an hour till the Read-a-Thon starts. I have spent the morning tidying up and cooking the sauce for dinner and then my husband just have to cook the rice so that should be quick.

Now having lunch before the start. Start time is 2pm here in Denmark.

Jane | 1438 comments Opening Meme:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I am in Rousthøje, a very small place in rural Jutland, Denmark

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
I have just been to England recently and brought back crumpets just for my breakfast during this Read-a-Thon

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I am married and my husband is also taking part. I like canoing and going for walks.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my 11th Read-a-Thon and I will just do the same as I did last time. Read for about 18 hours and sleep for 6 hours.
When I used to live in Greenland where the start time was 10 am it was easier to stay up for the 24 hours, now with a start time at 2pm I have already been up for quite a while and can't stay awake the whole 24 hours.
I might make time for visiting a few blogs which I am not very good at.

Jane | 1438 comments I think I will start easy with a short book.

My first book will be
Happy Witchgiving A Wicked Witches of the Midwest Short by Amanda M. Lee Happy Witchgiving: A Wicked Witches of the Midwest Short by Amanda M. Lee (94 pages)

It fits the Halloween season.

Jane | 1438 comments I have finished my first book

Happy Witchgiving A Wicked Witches of the Midwest Short by Amanda M. Lee Happy Witchgiving: A Wicked Witches of the Midwest Short by Amanda M. Lee (94 pages)
★★★★

As usual I really enjoyed this short story set in the world of A Wicked Witches of the Midwest series. It is set back when Bay was only 17 and is from Chief Terry Davenport's view. Aunt Tillie is her usual awful, brilliant snarky self and Terry just has to follow the chaos and hope for the best.
Most likely I will read one more from this series later in this Read-a-Thon

Jane | 1438 comments Next up will be:

Room for You (Cranberry Inn, #1) by Beth Ehemann Room for You by Beth Ehemann (359 pages) which I need for one of my Goodreads challenges.

Jane | 1438 comments Second book finished.

Room for You (Cranberry Inn, #1) by Beth Ehemann Room for You by Beth Ehemann (359 pages)

Nice, cosy romance that also made me cry a bit.

Jane | 1438 comments I think my next book will be:

Trouble in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law, #1) by Jana Deleon Trouble in Mudbug by Jana Deleon (321 pages) as that will fit two other Goodreads challenges.

Jane | 1438 comments And I have now finished my third book:

Trouble in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law, #1) by Jana Deleon Trouble in Mudbug by Jana Deleon (321 pages)

This was a fun, cosy mystery with a ghost. Another book I enjoyed more than expected.

Jane | 1438 comments Mid-Event Survey

1. What are you reading right now?
I have just finished Trouble in Mudbug by Jana Deleon

2. How many books have you read so far?
I have read 3 books which is 774 pages.
I knew I was going to like the first book as it is part of one of my favourite witchy series but I was pleasantly surprised by my next two books that I only read because I needed them for some of my reading challenges.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
In my time zone it is now nearly 2am and I am saving Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews for after my 6 hours of sleep. This is the book I have been looking forward to.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
No interruptions. Both my husband and I are taking part so there has been nobody to interrupt me.

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
No surprises apart from how much I liked Room for You by Beth Ehemann and Trouble in Mudbug by Jana Deleon

Which hour was most daunting for you?
None as I went to bed and slept for around 6 hours.

Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
The Kate Daniels Series by Ilona Andrews are brilliant.

Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next season?
No, you are doing a great job.

Everything was okay.

Room for You by Beth Ehemann (359 pages)

Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews (283 of 336 pages)

As expected Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews

Which did you enjoy least?
Well, for once none of my books go in here. I knew what to expect with two of my books but the other two was better than expected.

Jane | 1438 comments I did continue reading after the RaT as I wanted to finish my last book.

Magic Binds (Kate Daniels, #9) by Ilona Andrews Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews (336 pages)
★★★★★

This was just as good as the previous books in the series and I am looking forward to the next one. In the meantime I will read a few short stories set in the world of Kate Daniels.

Jane | 1438 comments I reached my goal for the RaT which was 1000 pages, I just passed it ending on 1057. I did sleep for 6 hours which I will continue to do as it takes me too long to recover from staying awake for 30 hours which is the minimum hours I have to stay awake to get through the 24 hours.

I will definitely be back in April 2017.
