I have a few friends that ask questions when they post photos. It doesn't always work for me but if I remember to ask a question I do.

Okay, I'll try that out!

Here's my instagram!

You have really good quality posts, but maybe try a more noticeable heme? It could be a theme in the background or a edit.

I love that you switch up the backgrounds!! but their kind plain on their own. And I think you could take it to the next level! Maybe you could add some different things to mix it up, like necklaces or bookmarks :)

Put up some recent bookish posts

Do you know how many big bookstagramers started out with a phone camera and not a fancy expensive camera?
I like your bookstagram! Maybe consider a theme to take it to the next level

I LOVE your theme! Maybe make the grey just a bit darker in your filter to make it really stand out :)

Looks good so far, Eva.
I don't stick to jus tone theme myself since I read too large a variety and want different backdrops instead of just one. I think yours are playful and work well.

Followed yours

I really love the recent pictures. The dark tone reminds me of serious libraries with big wooden desks, fireplaces and wall to wall bookshelves with the cozy feel.

I would love some advice, too ! Like yes, I'd like more followers, but I'd also love more interaction and to connect with fellow bookstagrammers to create friendship

I just started out and don't really know what I want as a theme so I've mostly just been experimenting. I like playing around with different effects and pretending I know aesthetic. I'd love some feedback and comments about which kinds of pictures are better fit and all :) I want to be able to start discussions in my comments create connections that way :)

I'd really love some tips for my feed. I seem to have lost a few followers over the last few days :(

Personally, I just ask a friend or two if they would like to have one! Then go about it based on their response!

I've had success finding buddy readers after posting the book I wanted to buddy read-- and asking in the caption if anyone wanted to read together. Depending on who responds, then we would create a group chat!

Here is advice I collated over the six months:
1. STREAM APPEARANCE - How do want your Bookstagram to look?
Consider consistent tones * Do you want a lot of white space * Floral is easy to change up * Props that reflect the themes * A coloured frame around every post * A well lit photo is best; can you angle your set up for good access to sunlight?
2. CONTENT - What you want to post?
Pictures of book stacks * Current read * You reading in different locations * Your shelves/library * Requests for recommendations * Opinions on finished books * Collections
3. PROPS - What can you include?
Alcohol * Baby wings * Badge or pin * Beads * Beverage * Blanket or duvet cover * Bookmark * Book merch * Candles * Coaster * Craft feather * Cushion * Earbuds (for eBooks) * Fabric * Fairy lights * Fake flowers/foliage * Food * Funko pop * Jumper * Laptop * Leaves or pinecones * Lightbox * Loose book pages * Mug * Newspaper * Notebook * Origami * Paper mache animal * Plant * Platter * Playing cards * Postcard * Pouch * Scarf * Jewellery * Spectacles * Stationery * Teapot * Toy weapon * Wallpaper sample * Wooden board
4. CONDUCT - What do you intend to use your Bookstagram for?
Join reading clubs * Make new friends * Receive likes and comments * Increase followers * Discuss books * Win prizes
If you only want to post nice pictures, you don’t need to interact much. For the rest though, follow others, search tags, like and comment on people’s content (proper comments, not ‘nice pic, follow for follow’), and try postings at least once a week.
5. TAGS - Which tags should you use?
Specific: Author name * Book title * Series title * Themes * Your profile name
Common: #bookstagram #bookgram #booklover #bookaddict #library #book #reading #flatlay
You can use 20 tags in your title. Try to mix them up as Instagram will treat consistently repeated hashtags a spam and lower your ranking in search results.
6. MISCELLANEOUS – Bits and pieces
Double check if you are on your personal profile or Bookstagram profile before posting * Take multiple pictures from various angles to get the best one * Move things around and take more photos, give yourself options * Trial free photo editing apps and try out the effects on Instagram * Look at your stream regularly to see if you want to change your style * Try to avoid the flash on your camera as you will often get a flash spot in the photo * Don’t exactly copy someone elses post but take a note of ideas you liked
Or maybe leave a link to your instagram for other's to give feedback!
