New Book Cover for Reissue

This book has been re-issued by Vintage and has an updated cover. Strangely enough, this was the cover for this ISBN before someone reverted it back to an older edition. See the links below for shots of the new cover:

Created alternate-cover edition here with the cover from Amazon.

Barnes and Noble is not an acceptable source for covers and book data.

Thanks. How would one set the alternate cover as the default, then? The newer cover that was added is the cover that is widely available in bookstores or through Amazon, not the older edition?

Also, there are currently two Vintage editions with differing page numbers shown in the available editions list. Both are from 1989, both have ISBN 9780679723059 and both have the old cover. Whoever suggested switching the cover in the first place did so erroneously - the old, original edition under that ISBN was already available as a separate edition. Now, anyone who picks up the reissue is unable to set that reissue as the cover of the copy they read on their shelf.

Only the author can change that manually, and this one is deceased. But every user can choose which edition(s) to shelve.

Ok. But this defeats the policy outlined by Dobby above. I read the alternate cover of this edition, and if anyone tried to buy this book from Amazon or a bookstore they'd have the alternate cover. These readers have no way of shelving the book they read, even though it's the only copy readily available now. The publisher even promotes what's deemed the alternate cover:

So, is this a loophole of sorts? You can shelve the book you read unless it was reissued with a different cover under the same ISBN and the author has died. Bizarre. How does this get fixed?

You (and anyone) can shelve the alternate cover edition. Isnt that what Dobby created for you in Msg 2??

Dobby did create an alternate cover, but the older cover is what shows up on shelves and on the app. In order to see the alternate cover, you have to be on desktop and click the link to the alternate cover. You can't make the alternate cover appear on your shelf as the default from what I understand. Is that really the case? If not, how do you make the alternate cover the default?

You need to switch the edition you reviewed to the ACE if that's what you want to appear on your shelves.

Go to the ACE and in the 'My Review' section on the book page you should see the following 3 options "Edit · Review this edition · Switch to this edition". Click on 'Switch to this edition' and now that will be the edition on your shelves.
