I generally read part 2, chapter 1 several times a year and I read chapter one a lot as well.
This book has played a major roll in my spiritual practices
thru my lifetime.
MaryAnn, I am thinking the same. I am finding the suggested meditations in Part I to be helpful and am working through those. Part II seems worthy of reading on an annual basis, maybe more often.
The answer to the question is that perhaps St. Francis has helped me to understand that I cannot change my self, but I can change the patterns of my life, and if I am diligent, then that life of increased devotion may open me so that God's grace will change me.
I plan to incorporate regular re-reading of this into my spiritual efforts.
