That works.
I was hoping I could read Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho. It was first published January 1st 1998. I hope that's okay! :)

i'm curious about this one - Goodreads says 1998, but every other website I look at has 2000 as the date of first pub - including amazon, worldcat, and fantastic fiction
My local library link says 2000 - which is where I'll be getting the book from. But the book was first published in e-book form in 1998. The hard copy versions came out a couple of years later. Will that affect me for this task? If so, I'll need to find an alternate title!
Here's an outside source that shows the 1998 publication link date.

See I question in 1998 how many books were released in Ebooks format before print...which would be the case here...
To make life easier on the moderators, we're going with what GRs has. It may be a faulty, but it is what it is......
its more my fault...but yeah...i was tempted to ask the author since he's a member of one of my groups but I didn't

In 1997, artist Sue Ellen Cooper gave a friend a 55th birthday gift consisting of a red hat and a copy of Jenny Joseph's poem "Warning". The opening lines of the poem read: Cooper repeated the gift on request several times, and eventually several of the women bought purple outfits and held a tea party on April 25, 1998. Thus began the Red Hat Society (RHS), a social organization for women aged 50 and beyond. In honor of the RHS's founding tea party, read a book first published in 1998.
