Laura (theloudlady) | 180 comments I am almost done with it. It is a fun read.

Jenn (wildflowerz) I just started. I'd previously read the first in the series, so I went ahead and picked up #2 and read it first. I see from GR that I definitely liked #1, but don't remember a lot about it. I really liked #2. I'm not very far into The Countess Conspiracy (#3) yet.

Angie (anchilada) | 17 comments I just finished. I had read Book 1 last year but didn't realize they were part of the same series until almost the end of The Countess Conspiracy (I thought Oliver and Robert sounded familiar.. duh!)

It's not my favorite HR but it gets points freshening up a few character typical HR tropes that get done over and over (bluestockings, rakes, disapproving mamas)

My only complaint is that we didn't find out details about Violet's past until about halfway through the book. It would have been nice to have a little more insight into why she was the way she is instead of wanting to constantly yell at her to loosen up, already!

Snooty1 Just finished it and put in my review...

Honestly, I liked it the first half, but the second half really made the book for me.
I have a giant book crush on Sebastian. I usually have a thing for alphas, but have to say a man that is completely in love with a woman who he finds brilliant is extraordinarily sexy. Between that and the fact that he takes things so slowly with her so she always feels in control...let's just say he would have to physically detach me from his body if he was a real person...

glad this was the alt book, have a feeling I wouldn't have read it otherwise. Added the rest of the series to my queue as well. Like that this is about strong women in a time when women were supposed to just sit back and try their damnedest not to have an idea pop up in their heads...

Stephanie (cozyuptocrime) | 46 comments Just finished this one yesterday. I enjoyed it overall, but it was kind of a slower read for me. Although I usually like the friends to lovers trope in romance, I didn't enjoy this book as much since the conflict was something from Violet's past that wasn't revealed until like halfway through the book, so the first half of the book her actions didn't make a lot of sense. I think if the readers knew about her history earlier and it just took her awhile to reveal it to Sebastian it would have made her easier to relate to as a character. I did really enjoy Sebastian and that he unconditionally was into Violet and lets her set the pace for their romance. I also loved the scenes with Violet's mother; I would love to read more about her past.

I've only read the prequel novella to this series before, and although this book didn't blow me away, I think I'll read the others to explore some of the other romances in this world.

Matthew Kitson | 68 comments Finished it, overall enjoyed it. Could definitley see the similarities with sebastian and violet and how they looked to please others, and her mother was a surprise.

Though at times it was a bit much with Violet going on how no one could ever love her for the 1st half of it, and how she kept on trying to write off Sebastian's feelings.

Heather (tornadox) | 20 comments Liked the alt pick way more than the main pick. The main characters had layers, the plot had surprises.

I also really appreciated that the books worked as a stand-alone. I might read the earlier books in the series, if only to see if the character hints for Violet and Sebastien. (Since the next book does not seem to be a lesbian romance about suffragists, I'm skipping it.)

Sara (laras213) | 3 comments Heather, the next book does include a lesbian secondary romance, if that impacts your decision.
