Taylor Alcantar (taylora) | 2 comments Hi, this is part question, part request.

I've recently started reading literary magazines and would like to add them to my currently reading list.

I was hoping to just manually add what I'm reading but I realized they don't have bar codes.

Is there anyway I can manually upload them anyway, if so, how?

Z-squared | 8575 comments Generally, magazines and other periodicals aren't added to Goodreads, as it's a database for books. Obviously, the definition of "books" can get a little grey, so there are some literary magazines on Goodreads, like this one:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

However, you'll note that magazine is published with an ISBN. Do the magazines you want to add also have ISBNs? If so, then they're definitely OK to add to Goodreads. To make sure they're not already on GOodreads, search by that ISBN. If you get nothing, then click on "Still can't find the book? Add a new record" and fill in as much info as you can.

When in doubt, you can always post to the librarian group and ask if something should be added or for help adding it. Just include a link to the magazine in question and/or the info asked for in this FAQ page:

Taylor Alcantar (taylora) | 2 comments The specific magazine that I want to add is Public Spaces Winter 2013 issue, and I've noticed that their are a few other issues up but they don't seem very official. No, it does not have an ISBN number and thats possibly why.

This is interesting, because I definitely see the value of adding the magazines but why it would be hard to add something without a bar code. Okay, I think I will just manually upload it, though I am bummed that that means it will be without a thumb nail cover.

Thanks for the response!

Emy (emypt) | 5037 comments I'm sure Rivka will weigh in, but FWIW some of the short-story collection type magazines are added in the style of anthologies.
