Rand's army minus the Aiel consists of factions from Tairen & Carihien which is going to cause a lot of issues when they are going to attack Colaudin holed up in Carihien.I think Rand knows about Mat's prowess regarding laying the battle plans, because he uses Lan to lure Mat into discussing battle plans with him.
Mat tells Rand he will be going away for the good once and for all, but the wheel weaves as the wheel wills and Mat ends up leading the Carihien faction in attacking the Shaido, he also kills Colaudin.
Rand does not participate in the battle directly but uses Saidin to cast lightning throughout Carihien to destroy the shaido. He is helped in this by Aviendha & Egwene.
Also Asmodean was supporting Coludain initially before Rand captured him, because it was Asmodean who told colaudin to wear the dragon symbol gloves in his hand.
During the battle Sammel who is now supporting Colaudin uses Rand's tactic of lightning against him and kills lot of maidens in that process.
Although the battle is won by Rand but it is a high cost.
Rand also plays some shrewd politics and decides to keep the sun throne of Carihien empty.
Meanwhile in gheladan, Gallad manages to procure a ship for Nyaneve and co, and it seems that Nynaveve in wise in getting the shienarians at her side, as they have to carve their way through a riot before reaching the ship.

I don't really have any other comments on this section because I sort of did the end in fits and spurts and don't remember what happens where.
