I think it would be nice to read another of the British Library Crime Classics, so, as it will be October with Halloween, I'll nominate the somewhat creepy-sounding The Z Murders by J. Jefferson Farjeon.

We haven't read any Patricia Moyes yet. She's a bit after the true Golden Age, but I think writes much like those women. I'll nominate
Patricia Moyes
I had no idea that Agatha Christie had written a Halloween-themed mystery - intriguing. I haven't read any Patricia Moyes, but she sounds interesting.
Only three nominations so far. I'll put the poll up on Sunday - does anyone have more nominations?
I wondered if The Circular Staircase by Mary Roberts Rinehart Would fit to a scary theme for Halloween?
Murder of a Lady by Anthony Wynne. I just got this and haven't started it yet. This is one of your British Library Crime Classic re-issues. Murder in a Scottish castle.
Can I request that people include the title of the book in their posts? I have trouble with the book covers, especially when I am using the app. Thanks!

I'm with you since I usually see it on my tablet and the title doesn't show up. Requires clicking through.

I'm so glad you said this, as I too have trouble with the covers

Sorry. My Patricia Moyes nomination was Murder Fantastical
The Circular Staircase has now just edged ahead... but Hallowe'en Party and The Z Murders are close behind!
The Z Murders is reviewed in this week-end's Classic Mysteries podcast. Website: http://www.classicmysteries.net/
I'm torn between Halloween Party (very appropriate for October) and Murder Fantastical and haven't voted yet.

Thanks for that, Sandy!
Hallowe'en Party and Circular Staircase are still drawing... this is proving to be a very close poll. I'd be happy with any of them too.

Just a couple more days to vote. Hallowe'en Party has now inched ahead, but it's still too close to call.
While I adore him - patent leather shoes and all... I will admit, though, that Christie's later novels were usually not her best.
It's looking like Poirot now - I think I've read one or two books about him but it was many years ago. I'll look forward to rediscovering him!
And the winner is... Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie.

Very close! Haven't read this one in ages, so looking forward to it. Really enjoyed re-reading, A Man Lay Dead recently - some great choices.
I really enjoyed A Man Lay Dead too, and enjoyed meeting the young Alleyn again - looking forward to our discussion!
Not one of my favorite Poirot books but I do enjoy Ariadne Oliver who features prominently in this one.
I've just started this one and am enjoying A.O. - to my shame I've read very little Christie so it's all new to me. :)
Sadly, this is not Christie at her best. It clearly shows her age. However, any Christie (and any Poirot) is a joy to me. I greatly enjoyed re-reading this.
Thanks for the warning, Susan, but I still think it will give us a lot of scope for discussion. Enjoying it so far.
Oh, it is a good read. Even Christie as her powers waned, is wonderful. She does manage to have a real sense of menace as well, which is lacking in some GA fiction as well.
