Cassandra | 5832 comments RECOMMENDATIONS
Duration: August 1 - August 31, 2016

The theme for August is friendship, and in honor of our book friends, this challenge is dedicating to catching up with all of the lovely book recommendations from our friends.

For this challenge, set a goal to read books recommended to you by friends or family. For inspiration, feel free to ask your friends (offline or online) for suggestions!

Taylor R volunteered to lead this challenge. Thank you, Taylor!

Cheri (jovali2) This is great! I modified a recent Clear Your Shelves challenge to be exactly this -- and I still have recommended books I have not read yet. I don't want to over commit, so I'll go for 2 in August.

1. The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi (5 stars) (recommended by Linda)
2.

battie (lavenderquartz) | 3 comments I'd like to go for 3 books! This is the perfect challenge for me, as my girlfriend has been wanting me to read several books she likes for a while now, haha.

Taylor C | 454 comments I'm leading the Group read, but I'm totally down to lead this too. I don't really like the heat leading me to have a lot of spare time. I barely go outside lol. I'm a fair skin home-body. What can I say? :P
If I shouldn't be allowed to lead more than one though, that's ok too.

My Goal: 0/1
Agnieszka- 4/5
Alex-- 0/2
Anna-- 5/5 Completed!
Cheri-- 1/2
Christa- 18/18 Completed
Daniela- 2/2 Completed!

Emma-- 0/3
Erika-- 0/4
Jordyn- 0/3
Lindsay- 5/2 Completed!
Sam F-- 2/2 Completed!
Sherry- 3/3 Completed
Tiffany- 3/3 Completed!
Vernice- 2/4

Loaned to me by Lisa who said she couldn't describe it but read it in a few hours. So did I.

Agatha Raisin: Dishing the Dirt **** Series recommended by Lisa

A Study in Scarlet through Berkeley Book Club recommended by Annie

Awesome! You're welcome. :)

I live in Indiana, so sometimes it's ok in the morning, sometimes I feel like I'm walking into a sauna. Because of the humidity, it's been about 95 degrees the past week. So no thank you! lol.

I hope you like it! This was my first "adult book" when I was younger. I mean adult book as in it wasn't a YA book. I loved it, and when I found out it was a mini series I was just as excited to watch it. :) I recommend all of Mitch Albom's books actually. :)

I see you read Lady Susan by Jane Austen (and weren't too thrilled). I haven't read the book but recently saw the movie that just came out, and it is marvelously acted! I really enjoyed it. The movie, titled Love and Friendship, stars Kate Beckinsall. Here's a link to the preview:

Since this is a recommendation group, you don't have to read it right away but I recommend For One More Day by Mitch Albom :)
