Nominations are now open for our August BOTM selection. Quick reminder of the rules for nominating.

1. Since we're also doing Quarterly nominations this months, books nominated for the BOTM MAY NOT be by an Irish author or deal with specifically Irish issues.

2. Each member may only nominate one book.

3. Authors are reminded they are not permitted to self nominate.

4. When nominating please use either the add book function or include a link to the book's Goodreads page.

5. To ensure books are accessible and affordable for everyone people are encouraged not to nominate recent releases, or books only available in hardback.

6. I will be checking how available books nominated are and will flag any books which people may have difficulty accessing. If I'm concerned about the accessibility of a book, it can still be nominated but will be flagged so people can make an informed decision in the poll.

7. Only nominations for the August BOTM posted in this thread will be accepted. Do not PM me with your nomination. It will not be accepted.

8. The poll will open on Sunday. The book with the most votes at the end of the poll will be selected.

9. Nominations will remain open until 6 am GMT on Sunday 24th July. For those outside Ireland/UK that's ,
New York: 1:00am EST
LA: 10: 00pm PST
Sydney: 5:00 pm July 24th

Sheena Lambert (shewithonee) I just read and loved The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney. I got it for less than 4 quid on kindle. My nomination.

Lorraine | 152 comments I am helping a friend in her bookstore today so I'm surrounded by books. It isn't helping me make a decision. I'll pick the first book I see. It is My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk.

I've just downloaded this for free on Amazon. So why not.

message 11: by Paul (new)

Paul Again its a later part of series so probably a good enough reason why not

Nominations closed about 10 hours ago. The poll will be up shortly. I apologize for the delay in getting it up. I went to bed earlier than expected last night after a whirlwind 24 hour trip to Concord/Boston.

message 13: by Susan (new)

Susan | 4707 comments I'm not complaining, Sara, because I can nominate it another time but why wasn't my nomination included in the poll?

message 15: by Susan (new)

Me too. It's the only one at our library. None of quarterlies are there. I guess it's a limited selection. It looks good too.
