Nate (rockhyrax) | 120 comments Excellent! I should really be getting back to her given how much I loved both The Stain and Netsuke, however placed at the opposite poles of her literary output. I've only read half of the novels, and none of her essays, stories, or poetry.

Kyle | 1 comments I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this, but what is the best place to start with her? I have Netsuke, Brightfellow, and The Fan-Maker's Inquisition available to me now. I'm really interested in the Tetralogy of Elements, but those seem to be a bit harder to find.

I think Fan-Maker's was my first. But just dive in!

And the tetrology is thematically linked ; so no worries about any particular order there either.

Amanda | 1 comments I’ve become quite a glutton for Rikki. This year I devoured all of her delightful novels (currently reading my last, Phosphor) and essays and got my hands on Verbivoracious Festschrift V. 4, which was brilliant. I’ve bought her short stories, but when I tried finding her books of poetry, almost every copy was a signed first-edition listed for massive amounts of $$$. Any second editions I don’t know about? She’s stuck in my brain, and I fear I’ll never be satisfied without reading every last one of her wonderful, bizarre books…
