Lina | 539 comments What are your thoughts on the books? Did you like them? Who is your favorite or least favorite character?

message 2: by Lynne (new)

Lynne Stringer | 128 comments I liked the first one immensely, but I didn't find the second nearly as good. The constant to-ing and fro-ing on America's part between her two love interests started to play on me. I thought the third was better, and I was satisfied with the resolution.

message 3: by Himani (new)

Himani | 16 comments I absolutely loved it. I gravitated towards America because she is an independent character. She speaks her mind and really appreciate that. personally I hate love triangles so I wasn't so elated about that. I thought it was really sweet overall :)

Sam (bookspiring) (bookspiring) | 23 comments I really liked it!!! But I seriously suggest that you don't continue on to Eadlyn's story... Or at least don't waste your money buying a physical copy. Just get an ebook or smth.

message 5: by Monika (new)

Monika (monikalilla) | 2 comments I am half way through the second one (also read the queen and the prince). I expected to be better I guess because it is so popular, but honestly I can't connect with the characters.. Agree with Lynne, it is a bit frustrating about the love triangle. And I don't feel America's love for Aspen nor for Maxon.
I will finish it anyways, I am excited to start the third one. :) Will be back then. :D

Rena | 95 comments WHAT IS WRONG WITH U PPL?!?! THE SELECTION SERIES IS LEGIT THE BEST BOOKS THAT HAVE EVER BEEN WRITTEN! I have the name of a really good mental health specialist cuz y'all have got to get ur heads checked!

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I love the selection series!!! i haven't read the heir or the crown yet... but i plan to. They are arriving in the mail in about a week or so. I loved the selection. It is such a nice book and i couldn'[t put it down.

do you like maxon or aspen?

i never really liked aspen. I always had this feeling that the girl America saw him with he was secretly with all along like she orignally thought before he told her otherwise. He also just annoyed the heck out of me

message 10: by Rena (new)

Rena | 95 comments I like both of them because they both love America. You have to really get into aspen and judge him favorably. You have to read the guard and reread the books and try to see everything from his point of view and understand what it's like from his side of the situation

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

I will set out to read the guard then soon

message 12: by Rena (new)

Rena | 95 comments U totally should

message 13: by Jane (new)

Jane Dean | 1 comments I love the series. And i love Aspen AND Maxon!! I was a little annoyed about the triangle in book two but "the one" is amazing! I mean it's very realistic to -think- you love both.. the boy of your hometown, who knows everything about (your old) you.. your little secret in the treehouse, just the thoughts of him feel like home in this new world full of people you can't trust.. and than Maxon, who is the complete opposite of Aspen but also kind and lovely.. i loved the story of them.
I don't know if i go on with the heir.. what do you think about the last 2 books? Is it worth it?
Excuse my english please ;)

message 14: by Rena (new)

Rena | 95 comments They're not as
Good as the first thrree, I'll say that. With America I always felt more, I don't know, connected, maybe? And the love scenes with America with either Maxon or aspen are better. (I like to go back and reread them cuz they're so cute). But u should still definitely read the last two books. They're still amazing, especially the crown.

message 15: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Katrani (sophiekatrani) | 17 comments I loved the first three books, they were the ones that really got me into reading.
I recently read the last two and I was disappointed. Specifically I never bonded with Eadlyn the way I had with America. I definitely recommend reading them though as they are the conclusion to a beloved series.

message 16: by Rena (new)

Rena | 95 comments Yes I totally agree.

message 17: by Jana (new)

Jana Verhelst | 2 comments I loved the first book, but i really had to drag myself through the second. The third started out like the second, but i soon began to enjoy it immensily! And the ending was just right.

message 18: by Lana (new)

Lana (17glimmer) I absolutely love that series. Although the second was sort of disappointing. But the last book made up for it since it was awesome, I was really pleased with the ending. Maxon is definitely fav

message 19: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 5 comments I LOVE THE SELECTION SERIES! the first 3 books were great!!! the last two books about Eadlyn, especially the last book i really didn't like. I was so upset because i really loved the first 3 books

My (Lostinfantasybooks) (lostinfantasybooks) | 8 comments I LOVED THE BOOKS.
Tho I have to admit that I loved th original trilogy more than the books about Eadlyn.
My favorite character is America and my least favorite Maxon's father.

message 21: by Suzi Evelyn (new)

Suzi Evelyn (suzievelyn) I really disliked this series. I think the only reason I picked this up was because I wanted to know what the hype was about. I mean it means something when a lot of people like a book. I don't think I would've picked this on my own just because it's not really the kind of book I read. I think one of the only reasons someone might like this series is if they ship America and Maxon. That wasn't the case for me. I hated America and was completely indifferent toward Maxon. I liked Aspen, though, and I believe the series didn't do him any justice whatsoever, which is probably one of the reasons I hate it. I loved one character and didn't care about anyone and everyone else (except America, I can freely say that I hated America--it's a pun if you choose to interpret it that way).

However, The Heir was a different story. With this book, I don't think I've ever been able to relate with a character so much, which is really funny because so many people seem to hate Eadlyn. I read the book in two sittings. It's been a while since I've done that. I loved the story and the characters. Well, I loved Eadlyn and Ahren, and Aspen was adorable, which, I know, is a weird thing to say, considering he could've been my father in this one. The Crown wasn't as good for me. I didn't hate it with a passion like I did the first three books, rather, I can barely remember anything from it. It was, in my opinion, rushed and such an unremarkable book, especially after The Heir.

Caria Lee | 1 comments I was actually obsessed with this story! It's amazing and will keep you at the edge of your seat!

message 23: by Siya (new)

Siya (siyak_) I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE SELECTION SERIES!!! The first three books were AMAZING, but I think the 4th and 5th ones were no where near as good.

message 24: by Maysam (new)

Maysam (maysamsiddig) | 38 comments I really liked it. I loved America and how she didnt the luxury and all that blind her that she'd forget who she really is and where she came from. My favorite character is definitely Maxon which is surprising as I'm not into the gentlemen and sweet guys. I'm more into bad boys and troublemakers 😎😏 but for some reason I just loved Maxon so much! He reminds me of Dorian Havilliard from Throne of Glass. But Dorian is still my top, sorry Maxon. And let's talk about Celeste for a moment. That girl is a real b***h and I couldn't love her more. I'm a b***h myself, so I'm obviously going to love her. But she's just so mean and evil and rude and I love it! I know, I'm weird, I've been told. My least favorite character would have to be Aspen. He was so annoying and just awful. I felt like he was a mistake and shouldn't have been in the book in the first place. He ruined my AmericaxMaxon ship and he's just so boring😫😫 Anyhow, over all I really enjoyed reading this book and I'd totally recommend it.

message 25: by Siya (new)

Siya (siyak_) One of my fave series of all time!!! I hated the Heir though, I can't even get past the 9th chapter. :/ I hate Eadyln so much! She is so b****y that I can't stand reading the rest of the book. But, the first 3 books were on POINT!! Love them soooo much!!

message 26: by hedda (new)

hedda (heddiling) | 7 comments I liked the first book, but found the others boring and eventually stopped reading the series.

message 27: by Maddy (new)

Maddy V | 4 comments Idk why people don't like this series lol. This series for me is like a breath of fresh air. I honestly love this series it's one of my favorites... maybe bc of the drama or the heart-clenching romance but I know there's some reason why I love it so much. It's literally one of my favorites. Btw Maxon Schreave is mine lol

message 28: by Lisa (new)

Lisa D | 15 comments I didn't get to finished the series but I loved The Selection, the Elite and the One. I couldn't finish the Heir because the protagonist was too annoying for my taste. I wish they continued more with America and Maxon. Overall, I did enjoy all the romance in the books and the plot. It was very much like the bachelor/bachelorette.

message 29: by Emily (new)

Emily (emily_woodal) That is a big reason why I liked the Selection....reading it almost made me feel like I was watching a reality show. I don't normally like those but the series was interesting for me. America did get on my nerves at times but she was an interesting character and you kind of grew to love her.

message 30: by Lisa (new)

Lisa D | 15 comments Yeah I felt the same way too.

message 31: by Erin (new)

Erin Bembridge (erinbelizabeth1) I really loved the selection series! Amazing and fell in love with it❤️

message 32: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa It was a great easy read! America's story was more enjoyable than Eadlyn's though

message 33: by Smalls (new)

Smalls | 26 comments I'm not thrilled with it, but it's easy enough to get through. It just seems horribly predictable to me. But nice for a bit of light reading.

I totally agree. Eadlyn's felt way too quick.
