Melanie (mvalente89) | 1770 comments Alright, so I'm not sure about this one, so I thought I'd ask.

This title has three editions added to the DB from the UK publisher. Originally publication was set for July 7, 2016 but the book is no longer coming out on that date. As far as I can tell, the author hasn't even finished writing the book yet, so the release is pushed back to an unknown date.

In this case, would it be ok to remove the pub date from the editions as the book is not coming out on that date?

Also, the third book in the series has the same issue (but in this case, the date is a 2015 date).

The problem with simply removing the pub date is that it looks on most pages like it was published. To make the indicators that it's a to-be-published book appear, it must have a future pub date.

For date-unknown-but-probably-soonish, I go with one year ahead (so currently, 2017) and a Note indicating that the publication date is not yet known and should be edited when it is. For project-shelved-but-it-still-could-happen I would go with something father in the future. Maybe 2020. And of course, always a Note.
