Ajay (ajay_n) | 1138 comments You have until the 4th of July to post a poem, and July 4-7, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best.

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group. Only one submission per person is allowed.

Your poem can be any length.

This week’s topic is: Game of Thrones

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject/photo but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Have fun!

Poet : Edward Davies

There are some shows on HBO
That chill us to the bones
But none are quite as violent as
The one called Game of Thrones

So many murders every week
There’s rape, incest, and more
And most weeks (if you’re lucky)
There’re the boobies of some whore

The only problem with the show
Is the writer, George Martin,
Just cannot seem to write a book
(Which chapter is he starting?)

The last book came five years ago
When will we see the next?
The show is now making stuff up
Which makes diehard fans vexed

So if you’re watching Game of Thrones
And have a dicky ticker
Make sure you close your eyes before
The deaths gets any sicker

And if you’re with your mum and dad
No matter what you’re doing
Tune out before the characters
Proceed to do some screwing.

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 9620 comments Edward, I've never watched a single episode of "Game of Thrones" nor have I read the books, but I still thought your poem was awesome. I know how much you like rhyming poetry, so you did good with that. Plus, the way everything was put together was hilarious. Great job, buddy!

Edward Davies | 1727 comments Thanks G-Man. Hope your writing goes well this week...

Game of Thrones by: Melissa Andres

A mighty powerful man
The King of his castle
Made his own rules
But was getting a hassle.

Not from the jester
No, not from the cook
T'was the Royal Queen
From whence came the look.

She was fair of face
Freckles dotted her nose
Lips like ripe cherries
Skin smelling of rose.

Her husband she adored
The one wearing the crown
Yet only one thing
Caused her to frown.

"Please, leave it be
Thy Royal Toilet Lid!
Doth happen again?
A farewell I thee bid!"

The King of his castle
Harrumphed and he scoffed
Attended to business
Turned the light off.

Suddenly appearing
A muscled guard; all alone
Silver blade shining
"Ye have lost the Game of Thrones."

All men seem to lose the game of thrones. :D
Seriously though, how hard is it to lift a lid? And isn't it better to keep it closed to prevent stuff falling in? :P

Gashbeen | 167 comments Thor had a horse
With a speech impediment.
Not even force
Could rid the horse of its lisp.

It was ashamed
Of its embarrassing lisp.
Its lisp was famed
For its great hilarity.

The game of thrones
Was made difficult for Thor.
Words 'broke' his bones
As they all mocked the proud god.

Thor would bellow.
"I AM THOR!" rang clear throughout.
His horse, Fellow,
Replied embarrassingly.

"Because you forgot your thaddle, thilly."

Jane Jago Players

by Jane

The King now old and paper thin
With marching wrinkles in his skin
Who on his deathbed silent lies
With failing breath and fading eyes
His son, the prince, is pink and smug
And quite as slimy as a slug
Inside he smiles, but hides his eyes
While outwardly he cries and sighs
The tall princess in silence stands
And carefully regards her hands
The doctor looks and shakes his head
Then baldly states 'the King is dead'
The prince looks up with gladsome face
At last he gets to rule the place
His sister pours him golden wine
He savours it and takes his time
'This truly is a wine of note'
But then he coughs and grabs his throat
The princess laughs and makes no bones
'That's how you play the game of thrones'

Title: House of Cards
By: CP Cabaniss

you toss your head back
with a mirth filled laugh
recline on your gilded throne
felling enemies with
casual nonchalance
thinking you're the highest
of kings
meant to rule
while others only dream
but your fortress
is a house of cards
with one gust
it all blows apart
