description

The "Grand Championship Snail Race" began in Cambridgeshire in 1992 in the village of Snailwell. It regularly attracts up to 400 people to the village, more than doubling its usual population. This year's race is scheduled for July 16th.

The snails compete on a 13-inch surface covered in cotton cloth. The racers are placed at a center circle and, when the command is given—"Ready, Steady, Slow!"—they're let loose toward the finish line.

WHAT THE SHELL? World Snail Racing Championships 2014

To go 4 inches, read a book:
with a French character in it
that you think might be a slow story
where someone eats gourmet food
written by a British author
with the author's name on the top of the cover
that is set in the summertime

To go 6 inches, read a book: (you can only read 1 of these)

that is a childrens book
that has a meal in the title (i.e., breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper, brunch)
with some sort of shell on the cover

The Challenge Factory
BOOK it to the finish line! - July 2016
Duration:
7/1/2016 - 7/31/2016

The "Grand Championship Snail Race" began in Cambridgeshire in 1992 in the village of Snailwell. It regularly attracts up to 400 people to the village, more than doubling its usual population. This year's race is scheduled for July 16th.

The snails compete on a 13-inch surface covered in cotton cloth. The racers are placed at a center circle and, when the command is given—"Ready, Steady, Slow!"—they're let loose toward the finish line.
