Melissa | 1 comments Hi all! I am revamping my 9th grade curriculum this year and would like to add some new and different novels to the mix. I am looking for a novel that is about characters who must stand up for their values/morals against society. I am open to classics, young adult literature, dystopian stuff, etc. I'd love to teach 1984, but I fear the reading level of the text is too high. What are your suggestions?

Kayla | 1 comments We read Night by Elie Wiesel and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. The Book Thief is very long and that could be an issue if your students don't have their own copies. In the past I have compared Elie's travels through German towns to Liesel's viewpoint of watching the death marches. There are a lot of possibilities with these pieces!
