Summer means so many pleasant things; picnics, swimming, barbecues, bonfires on the beach. Yet, we can also associate these things with the inevitable arrival of our insect friends. The charming ladybug, the buzzing bee, the ambitious ant, the pesky mosquito, the fascinating firefly... These creatures are as much a part of summer as bathing suits and citronella.

Mission: Read a book with an insect in the title.
This is a single book mini to be completed before September 20.

Examples:
The Secret Life of Bees
Dragonfly in Amber
The Mosquito Coast
Firefly Summer

That makes the title sound like something completely different, lol.

message 7: by Sam F (new)

Sam F | 198 comments Does this book qualify? Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman - Anansi Boys - thanks!

message 8: by Jenny, Certified Bookworm (new)

Jenny Clark | 1510 comments Mod
Sam, Anansi means "Spider" in another language if I remember right, so I would say it counts!

message 9: by Sam F (new)

Sam F | 198 comments Great! It was a fun read! I just finished it today and realized I forgot to ask :) I'm glad it fits - the brother's name is also spider so it is quite a summer 'buzz' book.

Tracey | 916 comments I've had The Secret Life of Bees on my list for some time now so I'm reading this one.

Plenty of time to get bugged by a book you can't put down. :P

Just finished The Moth. I'd never even heard of the author before this challenge! It turned out pretty well.

Argh! I forgot to mention... I read The Black Moth by Georgette Heyer. It was her first, written & published while still in her teens. It was absolutely charming.

How was your Moth, Allison?

Oh I have that one - thanks for reminding me :0)

I enjoyed it, well, until the end anyway. The end was a bit harsh! It left me with a bitter taste.

The Black Moth is a fun choice for this. Did you like it?

I did enjoy it. Lots of fun... But I understand from reading the reviews that Georgette Heyer gets much better. So I will definitely track down more of her titles.

message 18: by Veronique (new)

Veronique I've read a few, some of which were voiced by Richard Armitage (always a bonus) :O)

CaptKirk42 Classic Whovian (klandersen) | 436 comments Oh nice concept. I thought "NEW, buzz, buzz, buzz" would be newly published books. I'm sure someone has that as a mini group challenge somewhere right? Right?

Yep. It has a very boring title, though... 2016 New Releases. Boring, but direct. Lol.

Flies in the Face of Fashion, Mites Make Right, and Other BUGdacious Tales by Tom Turpin All about bugs, so doubly appropriate!
