A.R. | 78 comments Congrats!

Although I haven't posted much I do enjoy the topics the group does bring up.

I've learned of sword and soul, and in particular the work of Charles Saunders ( i.e. Imaro.) from comments made by group members.

Several moments come to mind:

Funniest moment: When Michael must have been pocket-dialing/texting and the messages came across like a Lovecraftian haunt: "xuygutybvghygytyvyth-v-y-uf-g-gyjgyy". Some of the thread was deleted...but not all...

Best Timing: If I say so myself....after Mary and Joseph responded quickly to a question and I responded "Sweet May and Joseph"

Best Schooling: In the Sword and Mythos groupread, Janet Morris worked me speechless when I tried to help differentiate Lovecraftian Mythos from Classic Mythology...and she kindly reminded me that Medusa fit all the qualifications as I had described for the HPL monsters. That was a healthy/fun debate (which I lost)

Arley Dial (arley1977) | 24 comments Having loved sword and sorcery novels for the past 25 years, you would think that I would have heard of them, but the group turned me on to Fritz Leiber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser series. It just goes to show that the genre we love is deeper than I ever imagined. Poking around has also led me to John Jakes's Brak the barbarian, which inspired me to shift gears from the western genre and write a s&s novel of my own. Keep up the good work, and take a pull on the hell horn if you get there before I do.
