Hi, everyone :) I am Christina (though most call me Kris). I am an English major and hope to one day be an English Teacher. Though I usually go through a couple months in the spring/summer of not reading a lot (too busy outside having fun), I love reading. I am currently trying to read more "classics," but I also love fantasy and paranormal, and enjoy the occasional fiction, mystery, and historical. I'd tell you all my favorite authors, but if you are book lover too you'll understand that it is difficult to narrow down favorites.
Outside of books I love the outdoors - fishing, mountain biking, hiking, camping, etc. During the winter I enjoy video games and watching shows like NCIS, and the Big Bang Theory.

Sha MC Hi everyone- My name is Sha. I love to read a little bit of everything. I used to only read non-fiction for work and school. Over the past year, I really started getting into a lot of different books. I enjoy, crime/mystery; paranormal; dystopian; YA; and classics. I hope we can all get this group going and share some good reads together!

Cheryl Matthynssens (Latiera) Hello. My name is Cheri. I am the Author of four different books that all contain dragons in some capacity. Two Children and Two Adult.

In my mundane life, I am a behavioral health counselor. I love reading adventure and fantasy with some sci-fi. I love animals, outdoors and truly have a desire to see the good in everything.

Hi Cheri! Welcome to the group :) What are your books? I love reading books with dragons. That is so cool that you are able to work and be an author (though sounds like it could get kinda crazy) :D. Do you have any pets?

message 6: by Laura (new)

Laura Hi all my name is Laura and I am a 36 year old Social Work graduate. I got my BSW degree in December 2013. Although not new to Goodreads I am new to groups in general- am somewhat of a hermit lol. I read across genres and often read multiple books at a time. Have had ideas for my own books going around in brain but have not done anything about it yet.

Joanne Zienty | 8 comments Hi everyone -- I'm Joanne. I am a library media specialist and a Good Reads author. I am new to the group experience, and I am looking for more interactions about books. Since I work in an elementary school, I read a lot of children's books, but I crave more interactions about adult fiction.

Welcome Laura! I totally know what you mean about being a "hermit" ... I didn't join any groups for about a year after joining Goodreads! I am glad you chose to join our group - Hopefully we can get some good conversations going and maybe do more group-reads! Please comment (if you haven't already) in the "what are you reading now" topic so we can get to know each other more and what similar interests in books we have :) I look forward to chatting with you!

Welcome Joanne! We are working on getting more participation in discussions right now - hopefully with more people joining we can get some really great conversations going!
I love Children's books! I "collect" them for my own personal library (I say that because I don't have kids)... :D I understand the need to discuss other books with people too. If you haven't already, please comment in the "what are you reading now" topic so that we can begin to discuss books, books, and more books :)

message 10: by Celia (new)

Celia (book-fidelity) Hello everyone! My name is Celia and I work as a case manager at a university counseling center. I created this group because I wanted to create a space where people could just talk about books they like. Unfortunately, I have a horrible schedule and if I'm not working, doing chores or reading, I'm usually asleep lol Christina has been a much better moderator than I could ever be. I look forward to chiming in when I can!

message 11: by Laura (new)

Laura nice to meet you Celia :)

message 12: by Tina (new)

Tina | 19 comments Hello everyone! My name is Tina and I've always loved reading. The feeling when you get a really good story in your hands and get the opportunity to get lost for a few hours is amazing! But what do you do when your bookshelves are full, there's no more space to buy new shelves and there are SO many interesting books out there, waiting to be read?!

message 13: by Christina (new)

Christina T. | 126 comments Mod
Hi, Tina!
Welcome to All Books. All the Time! :) Isn't that the truth! My "reading" friends and I seem to complain a lot about bookshelf space being too little. I, luckily, always manage to find a little more space when I need it...but I hear ya on that!
I've seen a lot of pictures lately on the net where people turn furniture into bookcases - ottoman will have open sides for books, stair cases will have room for books under the board of the stair, even couches and chairs can be designed to have shelves - kinda crazy...

Anyway, I'm glad you've joined our group and I look forward to talking to you more :)

Hi, Hari! Welcome to the group! Tell us a little about yourself :) Favorite books/genres, what do you like to do..?

In July we are starting our first Group Read! You can go to the "Coming Together" discussion to see what we are planning - challenge read - and we will have a list of things where each item on the list has to pertain to a book you read (ie: 1. read a book with a flower on the cover - and then you have to find a book with a flower on the cover)... We are very excited to begin - but need some more ideas (list items) - please feel free to lend some ideas if you can :D Thanks!

We look forward to getting to know you and having great discussions!!!

Steph | 15 comments I'm Stephanie...I've been on Goodreads a couple of years and just decided to join a book club. I searched groups for a while and you guys seemed like the one for me. I live in NC and am 36 years old. I am about to get married in October and will have 2 stepchildren I absolutely adore. I love books, coffee, sleeping and traveling. There it is...that's me in a nutshell:)

message 18: by Sha (new)

Sha MC Hi Stephanie! Welcome. My family is originally from NC near Jacksonville, Trenton area. Congratulations to you on your upcoming marriage! You joined the group at the perfect time. We are just getting started so feel free to jump right in. :)

Like Sha said, please feel free to jump right in and get start getting to know everyone. We are doing our first "challenge" group read and it'd be great if you joined us (if you want)! There is a thread for it and directions are at the top of the thread when you open it.

Sandi Trazzare | 1 comments Hello all! My name is Sandi and I just love to read. Always have, but have been getting back into it more and more lately, devouring at least a book a week lately. I live in Southern California and am semi-retired (from the corporate world) currently now just doing a lot of babysitting for my grandkids and Foster kids. I watch as much good TV as I can find, or Netflix. I am finding much comfort in getting lost in the world of fiction ... I belong to one local book club and love discussing the month's read, but I find myself wanting to discuss so many more so thought I'd give this a shot! Very happy to join you all!!

Hi, sandi!
Welcome to the group! I hope we are able to enjoy discussing books with you! Check out our current challenge! We are only a couple weeks into it so you can totally join us! The directions are posted in the discussion.
I look forward to getting some good discussions going soon!

Cindy Fazzi | 4 comments I'm brand new to Goodreads, as in I joined yesterday. I wanted to join a small but interesting group, exactly like this one. Just want to say hi to all!

Hi, Cindy! Welcome to the group. We have been trying to get members to participate in group reads but haven't had a lot of success :( ... do you have any fun ideas by chance? Or would you like to participate in a group read? It'd be nice to have a smaller group that is involved

Hi Christina,
We could pick one book every month or couple of months (more realistic!) to read and then discuss? I like to read literary fiction, historical fiction, contemporary romance, mystery/thrillers, and the occasional crime book.
I read the thread of messages above and it seems like the one genre popular to most members of this group is crime/mystery? Correct me if I'm wrong, or we could take a quick poll. Then we could all suggest a crime/mystery book and vote on one that we could all read. Just my two cents!

Cindy,
We can certainly try again with the group. But we've been trying for a little while now without much luck on a group read. We had a little more participation with the challenge. I guess we could try that again because then people can read what they want. Would you be up for a challenge? I basically make a list and then people have to pick books to match each item. (IE: Read a book with a blue cover).

Hi Christina,
I've never done a challenge before, but yes, I'd love to do it.
