This is a general group. In joining this group you have agreed TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.
There is no genre filtering.
If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference, or joining one of the 18+ rounds or a ‘clean’ review round. In this general group you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

Do not sign up until you have completed all your reviews in another review round in the group.

Make sure you have an author profile set up before you join and that your book is available for sale on amazon (not pre-0rder).
Make sure your profile allows people to message you, i.e. your profile is not set to private.

Please let me know as you sign up if you have been reviewed by, or have reviewed another author in the group. It is permissible to review an author more than once if a different book is available, but reciprocal reviews within the group are strictly prohibited.

As you have categorised it as a thriller for amazon, I don't see why not, but of course its up to you.
It come down to what you'd prefer to read, a potluck here, or those within your genre in the thriller group.

Hi Emma, do you ever do memoir or non-fiction review groups? There are so many genre's I really don't enjoy and don't feel that I would be able to give a fair review, but I'll read any non-fiction book. Even better if it is specifically for memoirs. Just something to consider?

There were all sorts of groups within the 'group 100' banner, but yes, there was a non-fiction round included.
The 'clean' group contains a lot of non-fiction, as well as children's books, you might want to look there. Its quite possible to review a book that isn't your usual cup of tea, have a look at this advice from one of the groups founders

It is not possible for me to arrange the list according to preferences. its tricky enough to make sure we only nave non-reciprocal reviews.
However, it is possible for someone to review another book from the same author is that author has another book available.
It would only be a reciprocal review, if you had reviewed her too. Is this the case?
At this stage, it would be possible to keep you two totally apart, but it would be easier if there was another option (i.e. have Sonal review your other book.)

If the answer to either of these questions is 'no' I can fit you in without a problem.
If both of them are 'yes' it still might be possible. There is one spot in each group where two specific individuals do not interact
at all. E.g. the person in position 1, will neither review, or be reviewed by, the person in position 6 . Same for 2 and 7, 3 and 8 etc.

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap.

Please pay special interest to message 1 and 35 of this thread. Note that everyone should send out copies of his/her work to FOUR others and should REVIEW a different four authors. Here is my take on "the rules"-

1. The authors are responsible for the delivery of their respective "books" to the reviewers. The usual formats are pdf, mobi/kindle, and epub. If anyone needs to convert the format of a book, a useful (free) method is to download Calibre and use it.

2. Reviews should be honest (e.g., you must have read the book) and civil. But your review does not have to be Positive (three stars or more). There should not be any discussion of the reviews on the Group thread.

3. Reviewers should avoid "spoilers."

4. Reviews should identify, with examples if appropriate, what the reviewer liked or did not like about the book - the writing/language/style, plot, characters, etc. Errors, formatting issues, etc., should be commented upon in a helpful manner.

5. Reviewers are not obligated to provide a "critique" or edit of the book though everyone is encouraged to be as helpful as possible. Please communicate these "extras" through the personal messaging function of Goodreads.

6. Links to your reviews should be posted in this group thread for our collective benefit.
