Amy Layton | 3 comments Children's/teen novel. Read cerca 2008 as a new paperback.
Cover - marbled blue shades (I believe), with title in swirly, large font
Title - the name of the scientist, smth like Kernobst? But have searched internet to no avail so perhaps not.

Content-
- Begins with girl who has dream about gorilla holding umbrella in rain
(recurring?)
- Lives with mum (and dad?)
- Computer in bedroom, visits strange website (possibly motivated by a word remembered in her dream)
- Mother takes on car ride (seems to be taking her away from danger)
- Mother explains that she is a genetic experiment, implanted as an ivf baby, she is not the biological mother
- Mother warns about the scientist who created her? reason for runaway?
- Car stopped by another vehicle driven by people in animal masks
- Girl kidnapped
- Taken to castle
- Castle in middle of forest, maybe Switzerland, gothic, I think
- Animal mask people are genetic experiments with animal dna, including the gorilla she dreamed about
- Meets the scientist (Dr. somebody, Dr. K?), who considers himself her father
- Learns she is one of many other siblings spread across world
- Scientist shows her machine
- Machine focusses her telepathy with other siblings so she can search for them
- Using it, she visualises girl, (in marketplace?), almost discovers location, pursues her in her mind, but loses her at last minute
- Wishes to continue to use machine to find other siblings
- Last scene is her standing by ramparts with gorilla who is holding umbrella
- First of a series?

I would be so, so grateful if somebody could tell me which book this is!
Many thanks in advance.

Amy Layton | 3 comments Haha thanks guys :P it was a leaver's gift from primary school...reading it disturbed me so much, cotton-wrapped child as I was, that I got rid of it! Years later I still think about it, but now with great fondness. I wish I could read it a second time.
