Richard | 1 comments Here are some of my ideas for next month:
*Ubik by Philip K. Dick
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
*Everything Flows by Vasily Grossman
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...
*Train Dreams by Dennis Johnson
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
*The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...
*The Melancholy of Resistance by László Krasznahorkai
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
*The Land Breakers by John Ehle
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
*City of Saints and Madmen by Jeff Vandermeer. I'm reading this one now and really enjoying it. A group of linked novellas/short stories. It's pretty long, but we could just read the first half or something.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Sasha (fearal) | 3 comments I second City of Saints and Madmen, and Melancholy of Resistance. I'd be ok with Ubik as well.

Tyler | 3 comments Hello, I am new to the group. If I could throw my two cents in, I would second City of Saints and Madmen, Melancholy of Resistance, and the Martian Chronicles.

message 4: by Jane (new)

Jane | 2 comments My top choice is Melancholy of Resistance. Then Land Breakers and Everything Flows. City of Saints looks interesting, but yes...LONG.

message 5: by Audrey (new)

Audrey Babkirk Wellons | 1 comments I like talking in Goodreads better than on email! Maybe we can make that happen more in the future . . .

I remembered that Sasha also mentioned Anthony Marra's "Tsar of Love and Techno" on Sunday: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

message 6: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Bortz | 2 comments I'll throw The Wangs vs The World and Moonglow into the ring:

message 7: by Jane (new)

Jane | 2 comments I'd be totally into more Marra! Loved that other one we read...what the heck was it called...
I also really want to read Moonglow and Wangs looks fun.

Both novels sound interesting! Have you read them before?

message 9: by Daniel (new)

Daniel Bortz | 2 comments nope, but I've read good reviews for each of them

message 10: by Sasha (new)

Sasha (fearal) | 3 comments I will second Wangs vs. the World and I think someone (Jane?) mentioned Swing Time over email.

Swing Time

Also thinking short and sweet:
Relish: My Life in the Kitchen
and A Year of Mornings: 3191 Miles Apart

I saw a dude reading Moonglow on the metro so people seem to be reading this in real life. I would be down for some Chabon too :)
