Stephanie Schmieder I definitely recommend The Bargainer series by Laura Thalassa. I think the audible version is well narrated too. Definitely not PG and a fun but dark story

The Six of Crows serie is amazing read them 3 times now

Nicole I really hope everyone comes back and updates for all of us who are just finding, finishing, and needing to replace this series.

I'm looking for a fantasy that has:

1) ACOMAF level M/F romance (not PG, but doesn't have to be quite as intense as long as it exists)

2) Characters that AREN'T YOUNG TEENAGERS

3) A good storyline with a solid plot

And IS not just an erotic storyline or too dark.

What have you guys found?

So far these are the recommendations I've found and thought might check at least some boxes, can anyone verify? I'm taking more time to find a book to read than actually reading latley... And I'm not enjoying it.

*Read*
The Folk of the Air Series by Holly Black: This is probably my favorite series.
The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer: Fun read, enjoyed the series
Pestilence by Laura Thalassa (The Four Horsemen, #1): NOPE
Radiance by Grace Draven (Wraith Kings, #1): YES!
Rhapsodic: So similar that it was hard for me to get into, but not bad. Looks like reviews for next books in series improve...
Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews: Liked the series
Darkfever Karen Moning (Fever, #1): Liked the series, but was hard to get into at first.
The First Girl Child: Such a good book

The Blood and Ash Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout is by far my favorite new series with The Folk of the Air being a very close second. I love her writing (it doesn't feel sloppy like so many other books I have read recently feel), and it has everything I was looking for. You should 100% read it.

Laura Nicole - I am like you, recently it seems I spend more time searching for the next book to read than actually reading!

I loved ACOMAF!! That’s how I came across this discussion. I found some good recommendations for myself here, and also wanted to add one (I’ll note that it is urban fantasy instead of just fantasy):

The Hidden Legacy series by Illona Andrews (just the first 3, I haven’t read the new 4th book yet which follows the sister of the main character in the first books)
I think this series had all the points you mentioned
1) there is a good amount of romance, and it builds slowly, which I love!
2) the heroine is 25 years old
3) I enjoyed the plot through all 3 books

So many times, I have read the first book in a series and just lose interest.

I can’t wait for Crescent City!!

I'll have to look into that series! But it brings to light my other dislike.... Cheesy, character book covers. Please, leave something to my imagination and give me a cover I'm not embarrassed to read in public. I'll just have to read it on my kindle so only my husband can judge me by the cover!

I'm SO EXCITED for Crescent City!!

Esme amaris Well I mean if you haven't read throne of glass then definitely read that, it's also by s.j. Maas and is pretty awesome

Mary Nowland Sessions -The Bone Witch trilogy by Rin Chupeco
-A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
-Poison Study series by Maria Snyder
-The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
-The Novice by Taran Matharu
-Soulless (Parasol Protectorate book 1) by Gail Carriger
-Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Louise Stewart The shatter me series is definitely one of the best series that I have read and is up there with SJM

If you haven't already, read Cinder a book by Marissa Meyer.

omg YES. It's Rhys that I am stuck on! He's just everything.

Layna Blurton There will never be another Rhys. Sigh. Has anyone tried From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout? That one really hit the SJM hangover spot. I can’t wait for the following books to come out.

Aishwari Krishna Layna wrote: "There will never be another Rhys. Sigh. Has anyone tried From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L Armentrout? That one really hit the SJM hangover spot. I LOVED From Blood and Ash. Did you read A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire?! I didn't even realize it was out until someone I follow rated it. It's somehow even better than the first book. It ended on a huge cliffhanger, I can't wait for the next book!

If you liked the Acotar series then you'll love the Throne of Glass series, it's just as good and way longer (for the moment) than Acotar, another book series by Sarah J Maas that has pretty much just began is the Crescent City series, so far there's only one book but it has to be my favourite she's ever written (it's called House of Earth and Blood and is massive). House of Earth and Blood Throne of Glass

Heart of the Raven Prince A Cinderella Retelling (Entangled with Fae) by Tessonja Odette

ACOTAR meets Bridgerton in this standalone fairytale retelling of Cinderella. If you like slow burn romance, fake engagements, and snarky fae royals, then you’ll love this swoon-worthy story in the Entangled with Fae series.

*NOTE this book is upper YA/NA featuring mature situations and some adult language. The romance is slow burn but leads to moderate steam.

Amelia.C Hunted is so good, I feel you girl, the withdrawal was a killer after ACoTaR.

reninn Black Jewels Trilogy. Full stop. It’s the kind of writing SJM was influenced by.

message 69: by Ashley (new) - added it

Ashley I would add:

Demigods of San Francisco series by KF Breene

Neon Gods series and Wicked Villians series by Katee Robert (both amazing far from PG)

Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs (much more PG but you fall in love with Mercy and Adam and they are adults!)

Immortals after dark by Kreesley Cole is a MUST read!

The Bridge Kingdom Series by Danielle Jensen (not as graphic but not PG)

Hades and persephone series: A touch of darkness by Scarlett St Clair

Scarlet I went straight into a game of thrones (a song of ice and fire) and I feel like it’s been the perfect transition

message 71: by Vik (new) - added it

Vik I would add A Curse for True Love by Stephenie Garber (3rd book of that series)
and A Crown For The Cursed by Joy Lewis (2nd book of that series)

Lexus Smith After reading this book series I had the all familiar feeling of wishing that I could put it down and forget everything I had just read. Rinse and repeat and read 17 more times. It let a gaping hole in my heart after I finished.

I would definitely recommend The Folk of the Air series to anyone who feels the exact way.
