Everyone in space hates wasting things
In space, things don't come to you freely, and therefore anyone who puts the resources such as food, water and air into some sort of unnecessary danger often faces an awful lot of abuse, not all of it verbal. It is common practice to throw those who are considered dangerous to the ship out of an airlock. This also means that when a person dies, they are most likely going to recycle your body and rip it to its basic atoms to make up resources for the ship.
Belters hate Inner planets. Inner planets hate Belters.
Most, if not all, Belters have a hatred for those who are born on inner planets, whether they are civilians or within the Military. Due to the oppression that factions such as the Outer Planets Alliance believe the Belters have suffered, they've grown to be very wary of all of those who grew up on one of the two planets.
The Epstein drive is their word for engine
The Epstein drive has been mentioned a few places on the threads so far, and just for the clarification, these are what we would call engines. They make the ship go forward, and do it in a way that allows for a constant acceleration that gives those who are on the ship the illusion of gravity.
The food is grown on the ship
All food found on the ship is grown on it, this includes the meats which are taken from real cattle, however the health of the cattle can be questioned due to the adverse effects of being in space, however for the most part they are normal, healthy cattle that produce meat for all on board the ship. However, this is a growing rare commodity, as most foods are paste versions of what has existed for centuries.
None of the characters shall see the sun
This is a generation ship, meaning it will take years for the ship to arrive at the destination and therefore, it is likely that only the grandchildren, and perhaps children of the characters shall be the ones to view the distant sun for the first time. This is something that most of the crew and population would have come to terms with before partaking in the journey.
The ship is big
It is impossible for a single person to know all of the crew of the ship, it's got a full compliment of around ten thousand including crew and population. Hence, it is easy for characters to have not met each other until certain days, and many low levels of crime can go without much notice. The ship is like an extremely condensed ship, with small quarters and lots of persons packed aboard, however manages to avoid being dense due to its sheer size.
