Hi Michele, I was thinking about giving this book a try since it was selected, but I've never read any books in the series before, would it still be good to read as a new Lisa Gardner reader, or should I start from the beginning?

Chava | 2788 comments I've just started this book. In a lot of the reviews people say it can be read as a stand alone

Hi Kayla-
I have read all her books and this one can definitely be read as a stand alone - the last dd warren book was quite awhile ago. Not much overlap at all in this one. Hope you enjoy it.

Chava, i finished the book last week of April and am really looking forward to discussing it. It was a very interesting and twisted book that i enjoyed. Love Lisa Gardner and have read all of her books.

VickiLee | 251 comments I enjoyed the insight and sensitivity that Lisa Gardner demonstrates in this novel. It is, for the greater part, a struggle to understand exceptional people who have survived abuse but still struggle with their feelings of being a victim. Even dear D.D. Warren finds herself baffled at times. What does it mean to be a victim? How does it affect a person's behaviour? This novel digs in to some difficult questions.

VickiLee, well said. It is definitely darker and different than some other LIsa Gardner's, but her expression of how victims react and the struggle to recover was very good. I am not sure how i would react but i am sure revenge and vigilantism would be very prominent feelings for me as well. I thought Lisa also portrayed the family wonderfully. You know your daughter is struggling and nothing you can do really helps.

Chava | 2788 comments This book is haunting me!! I have little time to read due to end of semester assignments, but this book keeps calling me to read it :).
