(view spoiler)[ I was just really hoping that Shazi's magic would've played a larger role, because the story could've been the same if she didn't have it. We never got the big showdown with her father, she didn't heal Khalid, and she didn't even destroy the book. It felt like it was going to be important, but then it wasn't.

Also, what was up with the reconciliation between Khalid and Tariq? Tariq almost killed Shazi trying to kill Khalid, and Khalid just threatens him and then they're friends? I wanted an argument, or some action. It just didn't feel realistic. (hide spoiler)]

In the end, I think Jahandar did what was right. It took him a while, but I think he realized all the he's done for Shazi didn't make her happy. Kudos to him, even though it took him forever.

I was planning on rereading the Red Queen series since I never finished it the first time but I'm afraid it'll be a flop, The Ruined series, The Shadows Between Us, or The Mistborn series.

If you were going to buddy read A Forest of A Thousand Lanterns I wouldn't mind reading it with you both.

Melanie, I totally agree. I really wanted to love this one but everyone was annoying me. As for the BR, we're still waiting on Missie's book to come through and then it's on!! I only read the first Red Queen book and that was enough for me where that series is concerned. Lol.

Jahandar's chapters are like finally kinda sorta coming together with the plot. They seemed kinda completely unnecessary before, but with his book playing a part in breaking Khalid's curse I now see where they come in. (hide spoiler)]
