I have a couple of cookbooks where the publisher has asked the review not be posted until around the publication date--months in the future (sigh). However, I'll use this to work my way through the other books on my shelf.

Lara wrote: "Uh oh. I just added 4 books to my shelf. Hmm, I hope I finish with fewer to read than I started."Haha... I agreed to read another after I made my list and have requested a few more, as well. I'm hoping to to finish even. lol
Edit: I think I'm going to add a list of "books added" to my post. It will make it easier for me to keep up when I start my next post next month.
I have the same, well problem, but is it a problem? :) I got one off my shelf, even reviewed it, and added two more back on. And I got my first Auto-Approval from a publisher. I've been approved for random books before (that I hadn't requested) but this is my first auto-approval publisher. Yay. :D
It is more the peril of being a book lover--I keep adding to my list/shelf/ereader/bookcases. The issue with NetGalley is that I feel obligated to read and review them, whereas other books I just want to get to someday.
Congrats on your first auto-approval publisher, Karsyn! I haven't read any yet this month. I have a few planned. I want to finish what I'm already reading first. But now, I just got approved for 2 more. One I really wasn't expecting because I requested it so long ago. That's ok though, at least it's one that I really want to read!
So my current challenge results:
Read - o / Added - 3
I think I might be doing this wrong! lol
Just curious, I have a tendency to request sneak peeks and buzz books which gives you extracts of books coming out. How do you deal with them as far as reviewing to get them off your shelf?
Alison wrote: "Just curious, I have a tendency to request sneak peeks and buzz books which gives you extracts of books coming out. How do you deal with them as far as reviewing to get them off your shelf?"I've only reviewed one of those so far, but I mostly just said how I liked the extract and if it was enough to get me to pick up the entire book.
GR didn't have a "sneak peek" version of the book, so I reviewed the Kindle version and said in my review that I only had an excerpt.
Is there a Net Galley thread in this group? I'm new to it so was going to try this challenge but had some questions first. Thanks!
Greta wrote: "Is there a Net Galley thread in this group? I'm new to it so was going to try this challenge but had some questions first. Thanks!"Only recomantations one. But I think people have asked questions there.
We have a Netgalley Recommendation Thread and a lot of people chat and ask questions over there.Edit: Whoops! Tea beat me to it. :)
That thread has actually been moved to the chat area and retitled as "NetGalley Book Chat (Recommendations, Questions, How To...)," since we were all using it for discussion anyway. :)
I'm still heading in the wrong direction, as I was approved for another today. I only have one more pending, so I can't go too far backwards (unless that silly, little, click finger of mine goes off again!). I am starting The Art of Not Breathing this evening though. So, hopefully I'd start working in the right direction finally. Current challenge results:
Read - o / Added - 4
Well... I haven't read anything so far, but wrote a review for one of the already read but with feedback needed... that counts, right?Of course I missed the archive date BY ONE DAY *pouts*

Sadness, one of the arc's I have isn't on here as it's a romance suspense sampler so I just tacked it on at the end.

Feed Your Readers, the NetGalley Challenge
Duration: Monthly
How to Participate:
The NetGalley Challenge is designed to not only get you to read your NetGalley books, but to also advertise your reviews for others to see because after all, that's what NetGalley is all about.
Though you may pop in/out at any time, the NetGalley Challenge will run on a monthly basis so you are able to see progress being made.
1. At the beginning of the month, post any/all of the following:
a: How many books on your NetGalley shelf
b: What books are on your NG shelf
c: What your Netgalley feedback ratio is
2. During the month, read the NetGalley books that you can AND update your post with your reviews. (You can do this after each book or wait until the end of the month.)
3. At the end of the month, update your post and with:
a: What books you read
b: Link(s) to your review(s)**
c: Your updated shelf count
d: Your updated books to read
e: Your updated ratio
Then start a new post for the next month!
Do you ever get so caught up in your reading that you don't want to stop to write your reviews?
Thinking about that, it was decided we need a "Review Weekend", once each month, set aside to write those reviews you've been not doing in favor of reading!
Review Weekends will vary randomly each month and is meant to be a time set aside to review. Take one, or both days and get caught up on reviews so you can spend the rest of the month reading!!
The first Review Weekend is set for April 16th & 17th
**When linking your reviews, please link only to the book(s) here at GoodReads. At this time, linking to a personal blog is not allowed. Thank you!
