I can't even think this section yet. It made some of the negative reviews I read make sense. At first glance Heinlein does seem to have an issue with lesbianism and his use of the male gaze would probably upset most feminist. 2 points: 1. the book was written in the 60's. 2. during Jill's talk about the male gaze she says she was glad that she didn't discover any latent feelings of Lesbianism (which he capitalizes) because it would be "too much." I would not read this as a dig at lesbianism, but more of a statement to Jill's mental state. She is already having a large identity crisis and this would only add to it. I find in her saying this some relief that she still knows a part of herself. I don't know. I think people are a little touchy about this.
Anyways, great section. Let the commentary on religion continue.
