That debate about laughter keeps recurring. Is it a hint? Or just a typical debate of the day? The labyrinthine library is such a cool invention. I wonder if it is based on anything.
Speaking of Sherlock (and of libraries) ...“Let us think about this,” William said. “Five quadrangular or vaguely trapezoidal rooms, each with one window, arranged around a windowless heptagonal room to which the stairway leads. It seems elementary to me."

It added to my feeling of the oppressive atmosphere of the place. To condemn such a simple and joyful thing as laughter as sinful. Bah! That old monk is truly blind.
The library section was great. So very clever.
