Adult, possibly YA though I don't believe so, can't recall the cover and it was less than 5 years ago.

Does most of the story take in Egypt where she's kidnapped?

Is this modern Egypt or medieval Egypt or ancient Egypt?

If medieval, it's not an exact match but perhaps The Lions of Al-Rassan? The woman physician's name is Jehane. I don't recall if there's a kidnapping in it, it's been a while since I read it.
