Jordan Gaucher | 2 comments Hi I am looking for a children's picture book from the 60's or 70's. it was about how kids lived in Thailand (at that time Siam) and talked about how their houses were on stilts because of the monsoon and how they made lanterns for the lantern festival (Loykhatong) etc. Google is not doing it for me with the King and I am coming up. Was one of my favourite books when I was a kid and its driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

What country were you in when you read it? What was the style of illustrations? Was it fiction or nonfiction?

A few guesses below. Do you remember the cover image?

"I am from Siam" by Tatiana Balkoff-Drowne - http://www.amazon.com/am-Siam-Tatiana... ?

"Chula of Thailand" by Elizabeth F McCrady - https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/23604... ?

Jordan Gaucher | 2 comments Thanks a lot guys. I was in Canada when I read it. The style of illustrations was graphic and a bit cartooney--with vivid colours. I believe the cover had a Venice of the east theme (Bangkok was a city of canals and houses on stilts) with lanterns flying through the air. It was non fiction. As above are great guesses with the limited info I provided. Chula of Thailand looks great though--will check it out. Regardless appreciate the help and thoughts.
