Since her twin brother, Eddie, drowned five years ago, sixteen-year-old Elsie Main has tried to remember what really happened that fateful day on the beach. I haven't read it, but looking at the blurb, they do sound a little too similar. I'm considering reading that one too, though 3.75/5 doesn't sound very good.

ratings isn't an indication of anything .. give it a shot! you might like it.. Personally, I liked it better than the movie..

I liked it very much, more than I thought I would to be honest. I felt captivated to read more and more and I couldn't stop until I finished it. I thought the writing needs a little more polishing, because the characters just don't seem to be feeling anything, just are said to be feeling bad, but the rest was all right. I liked Dillon and the father the most.

that's promising.. I'm actually intrigued (view spoiler)[by Elsie's attitude toward her twin's death.. I liked her desire to talk about him to celebrate his life.. (hide spoiler)] it's what makes me want to continue.. besides the mystery of it all ofc..

I liked her attitude towards it that, though I thought it was more about her guilt. I'm still not sure if I liked her or not in general, but I like her with him.

He's definitely in the wrong, and I wouldn't have replied to any of Tay's letters if I was her. I'm glad they got the help they needed as a family though. (hide spoiler)]

Just realised that this is a buddy read, and it's on my TBR pile...hoping it's not too similar to We Were Liars.
