Let us know about you!! Tell us what you're here as (author/reader/both), what type of genres you like, what your favorite type of cookie is, and anything else you feel relevant to the amazing experience here.

This is also the only group where you can use a code name and we HAVE to call you by it. Whoever wants to be called David Kummer gets an automatic gold star in my book ;)

Janeen Garner (booknerdneen) | 1 comments My code name is Mimi because I am to awesome to be called grandmother. my favorite cookie is death by chocolate. I love to read YA, sci Fi and anything about dragons. One of my newest favorite books is Mercy's Prince. It is awesome. What book was I disappointed in? Allegiant. If you have read it you know what I am talking about.

message 3: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
Hey death by chocolate is also an ice cream. An amazing one hehe. And those are pretty cool. I haven't read either of those books, though. Have you read the Inheritance series by Christopher Paolini? That's the best fantasy/dragon book series I've ever read.

My name is Groovy. I'm here because for one, David is such a nice, creative person, who could resist his invitation?

I an author/reader, but for now I'm authoring more than reading because people are waiting for my next book to come out, and I'm working on two--sooo....:)

I hope to see this group grow and prosper:)

Oh, and I love ALL cookies!!!

David, if I have a question or suggestion for you, the moderator, where would I post it?

message 5: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
Lol ummm I guess I'll go make a thread for that. I hope to see this group grow as well, and post teasers of your books anytime here and maybe someone will bite :) Maybe I will bite lol. And if you have any friends who'd be interested, invite them too. Let's get a group parti going (<-- that's on purpose).

sucre'd fiend (sucredfiend) | 2 comments Hello!

My name is Rem, and currently more of a writer than reader. I do, however, wish to balance that out soon. Generally, I read anything, but if it's dark and things get bloody, definitely throw the book my way. I love oatmeal raisin cookies, and I'm currently majoring in Psychology.

message 10: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee | 1061 comments Mod
Welcome, Rem. Looking forward to interacting and reading your suggestions:)

message 11: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
Dang it, Groovy. You beat the moderator lol.

Anyways, welcome Rem :) It's really great to have you here. Oatmeal raisin cookies are the best, and Psychology is hard. I'm taking a Sociology class at the moment. (Will you do my homework??)

Phil Nemethy | 35 comments Hey, y'all, I'm Phil. I joined because it's a small group so far, and ones that are thousands of people...just seems too much. Hopefully it'll be active as well.

I mainly read literary fiction and history. I write humorous stuff in the vein of Southern gothic and dirty realism. The book I've currently got published is weird and in bad taste, and I blame that on being born in Baltimore.

message 13: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
It best be active or I wil talk to my manager. hehe.
Welcome Phil! *claps*
Thats really neat. I dont knos much about the humorous genre. I might wanna check that out. You sound likd one cool dude. And lit. fiction is very good. I just read cool book called Trail of Broken Wings. very sad. ever read?

message 14: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee | 1061 comments Mod
Welcome, Phil. As I read your post, I could hear that southern accent:) I'm southern, too. And I love to reading about history.

See, David? I waited for you first:):)

message 15: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
*bows* I appreciate it Groovy, but thee doest not have to wait for myself.

message 16: by Phil (new)

Phil Nemethy | 35 comments Thanks... David - I had not heard of that book before. I'm also unsure which section on here I'd put my book under. Closest is maybe literary (though it's not 'serious'), but it's definitely not children's.

Hey, Groovy - yeah, as I said I'm originally from Baltimore (which, Maryland...yankees, you think you're a southerner, southerners think you're a yankee :P) but I've lived 20 of my 32 years in North Carolina and I'm not leaving, haha.

message 17: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
I have added a Humor/Funny section if you would like to add your books Phil. I apologize for not having it up previously.

message 18: by Gaines (last edited Mar 13, 2016 05:02PM) (new)

Gaines Post (gainespost) | 86 comments Hi all. My name is Gaines. I'm from Tennessee in the US originally, but have lived in Australia for the past 9+ years. My favourite reads tend to fall in the sci-fi and fantasy genres, although recently I've been dipping my toes into darker, horror-esque literature. I can't really go to sleep at night without reading in bed, even if it's just a few paragraphs before my eyes close.

I used to play flute professionally, and now I'm a freelance translator (Chinese to English). It's been a while since I played music. Last night, though, I had a dream about an old friend of mine, playing upright bass in the grass underneath some big shady oaks. In the dream I picked up my flute and we played together for the first time in years. Maybe I should take that as a sign.

Anywho, nice to meet you all :-)

message 19: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
Another horror man *salute*
Be careful how far you dip your toe in. In the Horror genre, things tend to grab your toe and pull you in. Whawhawha.

I do the same thing with reading right before bed. It drives my girlfriend crazy when I say I was up til 2 reading lol.

That's cool. My mom used to play the flute, but only in high school. And my dad can do some translating with Haitian Creole to English. Very neat.

It's very nice to meet you too :)

To Groovy--I beat you!! Hah!!

@Groovy: Looks like we got a new member in our posse!

message 28: by Kolt (new)

Kolt Winters | 6 comments Howdy everyone! I'm Kolt and I'm absolute rubbish at introductions so hopefully this will be bearable for all parties involved (if not, then please find your way to the nearest liquor cabinet or chocolate stash to help you through this mess). I'm from southern Kentucky and am currently in the process of writing my first fantasy series, which I will admit feels a bit like tumbling full tilt down the rabbit hole and losing my mind (and a good deal of my clothing) on the way down.

When I'm not writing -or aleast the crazy keyboard smacking antics that passes as writing in my dining room with lots of grunting and sobbing- I spend much of my time working as an Artist (portraits, illustration, and graphic design) and a Bellydance performer/instructor with my dance troupe.

I love fantasy and supernatural fiction, especially dark and brooding books that drip angst, lots of blood, and leaves you wondering if the author or yourself needs therapy of some sort afterward. But I'm always down to try new genres and authors.

I joined this group because it was somewhat smaller than others (which I noticed was the case with another person as well) so I'm hoping that makes it easier to connect with other authors and get involved.

Looking forward to discussions and making friends!

Welcome Kolt :) We're thrilled to have you and that was a good introduction so no worries. You'll fit in just wonderfully here.

I hope you enjoy yourself! Feel free to talk about your upcoming novel(s) in our W.I.P. folder and promote it in the fantasy folder once you're completed with it.

Luciana Correa (lucorreaauthor) | 1 comments Hey, David!
The first time I got into Goodreads I saw one of your posts talking about your writing. I'm sorry to say that I consider the site not very much friendly and I could never find you again. I'm glad I've found the group. I'm a writer, just starting, and my blog is about writing tips and other things related. I'm a teacher too and I'm very happy to be here! Thanks!
You can enter my blog or read it here on Goodreads. The only problem is that videos don't download on GR and they are usually part of the post. lucianacorreaauthor.blogspot.com

For some reason, I haven't been getting the notifications on my email for this thread. Weird. That's how you beat me, David.

And David, I'm so happy to see more people joining your group. Good for you. I think we got another Southerner, too:)

I look forward to interacting with all of you.

M.E. Whiter (mewhiter) | 1 comments Hi Everyone,

My chosen code name is, Me - because it’s short and quirky just like I am.

I live in the Blue Mountains, about two hours drive west of Sydney, in Australia. (That’s the funny-shaped island in the far away region of the Southern Hemisphere - anyone got a tow rope?).

My favourite cookie is white chocolate and macadamias.

I’m a new self-published author, with only one book published so far, and a second book due to be released next month.

While I choose to focus my writing on the one genre: Romantic Suspense, my reading tastes tend to differ, preferring sci-fi, crime thrillers and fantasy.

It’s nice to be part of a small group, and I look forward to making new friends:-)

Gaines Post (gainespost) | 86 comments Hi Marieanne :-) Nice to meet you.

message 43: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
Hey Marieanne :) That's really neat. I wrote a book recently kinda in the Romantic Suspense genre. And I read in lots of genres too, I know what you mean.

White chocolate and macadamias hmm... I think my mom likes those too, so good choice.

I'm thrilled to have you as part of this group. You'll make lots of friends :) Watch out for that Groovy. She's one of the friendliest.

message 44: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee | 1061 comments Mod
Who me? You're so sweet, David. But I think Marieanne is going to find out what a great bunch of people make up this group:)

Welcome, Marieanne, or would you rather be called Me? You and I write in the same genre. All the best with your first and second book. Is your first book doing well?

message 45: by Jason E. (new)

Jason E. Fort (fortress23) | 6 comments Hello New Group - my name is Jason Fort, and I am here as both an Author and a Reader! I love Goodreads, but it is an ever-expanding universe that I just don't make enough time to figure out. I write Christian Thrillers, and have considered writing historical fiction with my 13 year old son (He is a WW2 fanatic, and an old soul at heart).
I enjoy reading some sci-fi(especially super hero stories), some fantasy (especially anything about rogues, warriors and dragons), and some legal courtroom mysteries/dramas.
But I like reading things from the Thriller genre the most. My favorite authors are Ted Dekker, Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, Lee Child, David Baldacci, Stephen King, Nelson DeMille, and...me (most of the time in that order)
(Is it too conceited to really like my writing? It's not the writing - it's the stories...I just love stories)
My favorite single book (besides the Bible) is Saint, by Ted Dekker.
My favorite series is The Circle, by Ted Dekker.
My favorite character is a toss-up between Mitch Rapp and Scot Harvath, two highly skilled modern-day warriors.
My favorite scene for an assassination is actually right out of my own book, in my first book Misguided. Let's just say I quote something from it on my Author Dashboard.
Please shoot me a line if you want to chat -

message 46: by David (new)

David Kummer | 622 comments Mod
I know what you mean about liking your own writing Jason :) I'm quite fond of my own, too (sometimes too much). And Ted Dekker's a fantastic author. I love the Circle series, same as you.

Christian Thrillers? Hmm, I don't think I've ever heard of a book in that genre. You're unique, and that's a great thing! I think you'll fit in very well, Jason.

Feel free to promote your book over in the Thrillers categories and get involved in all the other folders! We're thrilled to have you (pun intended).

Jason E. Fort (fortress23) | 6 comments Hi Gaines. Hope you are well. I'm new to this particular group ...not to be cliché, but 'what's your story'? :)

message 49: by Gaines (last edited Apr 14, 2016 12:07AM) (new)

Gaines Post (gainespost) | 86 comments Hmm. Good question. I suppose I could start with geography and say that I'm from Tennessee originally, after living several other places, have now more or less settled in Australia. After nine years in the southern hemisphere, I still get confused by the reversed seasons. And my favourite local beer (okay, strictly speaking, I'm straying away from the topic of geography...) used to be James Squire's Sundown Lager, but they recently stopped making it (sadface), so now it's either XXXX or One Fifty Lashes. As for overseas beers I don't mind Bitburger Pils, and I also enjoy a good dark stout now and again :-)
