Marguerite I read this in First Edition, right from the box in the bookstore. I was immediately drawn in and couldn't put it down. I found it to be a very profound and deeply moving work of love and endurance of the human spirit. The blindness of the young girl is emblematic of the lack of sight of so many who were willfully ignorant and shut their eyes to the evil around them. It is a beautiful work of literature. I want to read it again; I am sure I did not glean all of the gems that this work has to offer.
