This is a place for you to discuss novels that have a theme of religion or belief. Do any of your characters struggle with their faith or relationship(s) with the gods? Do any characters go through situations where they lose their faith? How do they react and handle those situations? What do they learn? What is your reaction to the reading? Be sure to tell us what you are reading.

The people of Munchkinland are fed up with the Unnamed God due to the drought and lack of answered prayers so they've turned to idolatry. Frex is desperately trying to turn them back to traditionalist religion and is somewhat succeeding after a very long time of preaching and arguing.

Writer Bobbi Anderson becomes obsessed with digging up something she's found buried in the woods near her home. With the help of her friend, Jim Gardener, she uncovers an alien spaceship. Though exposure to the Tommyknockers who piloted the alien craft has detrimental effects on residents' health, the people of Haven develop a talent for creating innovative devices under its increasingly malignant influence.

Skylar Holden-Bache | 4 comments In my book, Charlie shows his beliefs and religious values through his connection with his aunt Helen. His aunt Helen passed away when he was six and they were very close to each other, although Charlie often gets sad about his aunt Helens passing and misses her, he is content because he knows she is in heaven. Charlie visits her grave a lot, in the past with his mom but now he can drive on his own so he goes by himself. When he visits her he talks to her about his life and things to make him happy and tries to show her he's okay with her being gone because he is in a better place and he will see her again some day.

Shawna Belle | 3 comments In my book, "90 Minutes in Heaven", the author, Don Piper, talks about his deadly car accident and how he came back to life. He says the EMTs stated that he died instantly. While the accident backed up traffic on the bridge where the accident occurred, a preacher came onto the accident site and prayed for Piper although he was dead. As the preacher was singing a song Piper began to sing along; the EMTs were alerted that he was alive, but they didn't believe it. Various chapters of the book talk about his time in Heaven and his time spent with God. Piper was on the way home from a convention where he was gathering information in order to open a new church. He is a strong believer in God and knew that his coming back to life was God's doing.
