Why do you think Paris was so determined to marry Juliet?
That's a good question...I think it was just the times. Fathers basically sold their daughters, and women were possessions and only good for child bearing. If she was pretty, then Paris was probably infatuated, but he wasn't in love.
She was the pretty daughter of one of Verona's most powerful families, it would have been a smart match that would have furthered him socially.
