Alienated by Melissa Landers
Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.
Handpicked to host the first-ever Leihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, shell have inside information about the mysterious Leihrs that every journalist would kill for. Caras blog following is about to skyrocket.
Still, Cara isnt sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and Leihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldnt seem more alien. Shes certain about one thing though: no human boy is this good-looking.
But when Caras classmates get swept up by anti-Leihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isnt safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Caras locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class. Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isnt just her only friend; shes fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life-not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

I did not hate this book but I also did not love it. It seemed a little "teensy" to me. I know it is a teen book but a lot of teen fantasy books can make me overlook the teen aspect. This book did not.
This book was powerful though in making me think about inequality. It also brought to mind a quote that "Active evil is better than passive good." I think this is true in some ways. Sometimes good people stand by waiting for someone else to save the day.
