Great! One of my personal goals in the next several months is memorize all of Mozart's string quartets.

That is great. A rather complicated goal I would surmise. Welcome to our group Glenn!

Lotsa love in this area. Just about all the Russians. Modern composers such as Glass, Reich and Pärt. Got to see Michael Nyman a few years back. What a highlight that was. Also a fan of movie composer Hans Zimmer who I admire very much. Sometimes his soundtracks are better than the films themselves. Gladiator is a prime example of that for me.
I'm not sure where Therion goes here. Their song "Jotunheim" sounds medieval.
I love classical music myself. I find it very relaxing and energizing at the same time. It makes my body relaxed but my mind energized.
My favourite orchestral composer is Mozart. I also love Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Liszt, Verdi, Orff, Bach and Beethoven.

I love them too!

I really go for Baroque, but also lost of choral music, symphonies, even some opera. My dad is a huge Beethoven and Mahler fan (plus opera) so I have heard a lot of that, too.Perhaps one of my favourite orchestral pieces is Smetana's The Moldau.
My youngest teen is a big fan of orchestral music, in particular Russian composers.

I love Liszt and Dvorak and Holst. I like Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, even though I'm not usually crazy about concertos unless I'm playing one.
At one time, say about mid-March, I thought I really liked Mozart. But from that point thru August I listened to every piece of music he wrote all on 174 CD's. Talk about variations on a similar theme. I won't do that again or recommend it. I still have a few favorites, Berlioz, Faure, Delius, Bruckner, four off the top of my tongue.
My wife is a violinist. My favorite composers are Bach, Handel and Tchaikovsky. Last year I became enthralled with the operas of Wagner.
I like chamber music. - )Bach, Beethoven, Brahms and Shostakovich. - )
