How it fits: Hand 14 - 3RED card (red cover and H - author name).
I absolutely loved this book!!! In my opinion it's a must read for all dystopian fans. I loved the world author created! There are elements from Hunger Games, Wayward Pines and even The Martian, but it's still unique and original idea, nail-biting and fascinating story!

I really enjoyed this book. Great love story. Oh the angst lol :)
I am almost half way through my current book. Sorry for being slow ... it's not as engaging as I'd hoped.
Don't worry about it, Pepperpots! Happens to the best of us :-)Hopefully the book starts being a little more engaging soon - or hopefully you'll get through the rest fairly quickly so you can read something more enjoyable :-)

It is full of angst, but very good book.
I just started
. Seems like it's going to be an interesting ride. A female main character who has no idea who she is, what she wants, etc - except for her job, that is.

I just recently read
by R. Lee Smith and I must say I've neved read anything like it! It was really good and completely unique.

I just finished
and I want to screaaaaaaam! Evil cliffhanger!!But a good book. Lots of angst, and fun banter. I sometimes wanted to hit the female MC over the head, well and to be honest the male MC as well sometimes, but the story was a really good read. Sucked me right in!
Because I actually wanted to read another book last night and finish this one today while at work - look how well that worked out ;-) I just got into work and I've finished up the last pages of the book on the busride this morning hehe.
The April Mini Challenge has been posted. You can find it here.
We're going to be playing Bingo!
◈ Books started after April 13 and read between April 13 - April 30 count.
◈ Books started before April 13th do not count.
So basically, only books you start as off today will count for this challenge.
How it works:
◈ As a team, get "BINGO" by reading books for five squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally to create a line (there are 12 possible lines)
◈ Only one book per square (so one book may be used for more than one "line")
◈ For each line completed, your team receives a "BINGO Bonus" of being able to chose one card in any April hand that you can claim double points for
I'm guessing, we're going to try and get as many lines as possible, right? ;-) That would result in 12 possible lines, which would mean we could double the points of 12 cards in our April hands.
I started
this morning and from barely having read any pages (and the synopsis), I can already tell that it's probably going to fit 4-5 of the Bingo tasks.
Oh, I´m in the middle of two books at the same time right now (paperback to hug before sleep and audible for long walks after work), so sadly I can´t jump right into this mini-challenge. But I´ll do my best to finish them quickly and then I´m on to the mini challenge ;)
Haha it's funny to see how we all seem to follow the same trends. Various book formats for various times of day or things we're doing. I usually always have a paperback and a digital book on the go, sometimes also an audio.

Of course! I've no open books I've got to finish off, so I'll look at what I'll be starting soon and where they fit.
Fantastic! This actually makes me glad that last week I was trying to get rid of as many of my currently-reading books as possible hehe.
I still have that bloody Beyond the Highland Mist lying around that I still haven't finished! Not a bad book but other things just keep getting in the way and it isn't pulling me in quite as much as I hoped it would.
I love Bingo!!But first here are my two books that I've shelved but not posted yet. Sorry :)
2 - 2nd in series
3 - author Laurell K. Hamilton
6 - seit in St.Louis
Circus of the Damned
0 - character, Richard Zeeman
3 - 3rd in series
6 - set in St.Louis
I'm onto Book 4 in the Anita Blake series
and it fits the vampire category. Jean-Claude *wink*.There is also a charcater that is a science teacher, and two characters that studied preternatural biology and ornithology and have degrees. Does that count for biologist/scientist?
Science teacher should work for scientist, I'd say. Glad you're enjoying the series! Jean-Claude is yummy. Gosh, I really need to reread. And of course, I have a soft spot for Edward.
Finished
1 - 1st in series
2 - T name - Ava Teague
4 - F name - Felix Lécuyer
Bingo Options
National Licorice Month: Read a book with black cover (>50%)
Reason: black cover
Reading is Funny Day: 1st of April : Read a book with a bookish character
Reason: MC loves reading and want to write them • "You really do love books, don't you?"• page 338
National Beer Day 7th of April : Read a book where someone drinks beer
Reason: character drink beer • "...sipped his beer"" • page 56"

It's my 4th time re-reading :)
Yeah I like Edward aka Death too. I find myself getting annoyed with Richard this time around :)
Did not realise you'd reread them that often haha!Yeah, in hindsight, I'm not so sure what to make of Richard either... But.. well.. yeah..
Argh! I keep thinking I'm not particularly made for rereads but lately so many books pop up that make me itch to reread them. Hm. Such difficult decisions hehe.
Same hee. I keep looking for new UF series but all the new ones don't compare to Mercy, Anita, Mac and Kate :(
JennyWren wrote: "Same hee. I keep looking for new UF series but all the new ones don't compare to Mercy, Anita, Mac and Kate :("Some great series there. All the favourites. Well except Mac, which I'm presuming is the Fever series by KMM. I've not read that series yet. I have the books, just have to get around to reading.
Barrons is yummy ;-) Mac can be a bit annoying at times though, especially in the beginning where she is a little extreme in her Mary-Sue-ness. I did enjoy the series quite a bit despite that though.Jane Yellowrock is an interesting heroine, yes! I've only read the first book so far, but I liked it a lot.
I also really like Karen Chance's books - the Cassandra Palmer series, starting with
, and the Dorina Basarab series, starting with
. Dory's books are a tie-in with the Cassie books so I technically wouldn't start with the Dory books, though quite a few people do.

I really like the Fever series. Barrons is a badass and although he is such a jerk at times I don't think there's anyone quite like him *sigh*. Book 1-5 are awesome. After that the quality goes downhill for me.
✼Danielle✼ wrote: "Have you tried the Jane Yellowrock series?
is the first book. I really do enjoy this UF series."On my TBR. I think someone said there was no romance at all and that put me off! But that was when the first books came out. Is that true?

4 - 4th in series
April Mini Challenge:
National Garlic Day -> vampires
"The vampire call her The Executioner", p.49 (about Anita Blake MC)
DNA Day -> biologist
"Of course, my degree was in preternatural biology, but hey, biology is biology, right?", p.81 (MC uses her degree for her work as a preternatural expert, also one side character is a ornithologist, another side character is a science teacher)
I think we should definitely snag that book for DNA Day as it strikes me as one of the harder ones.As for Jane Yellowrock. Yeah, no romance in the first book but I could imagine something happening further down the line. It's actually quite refreshing that the characters don't jump each other's bones right off the bat. Sometimes that needs a bit of development. Don't get me wrong, I like the Night Huntress books for instance but it's all sooo so quick at times. So this was refreshing, in my opinion anyway :-)
Just as a heads-up: I'll be away from the computer for most of the weekend. We're having a con (fantasy and sci-fi) here this weekend and I'm always helping out behind the bar on Saturday and Sunday, plus getting the last few things set-up on Friday. Fun times :-) Though late nights and early mornings haha.
