I generally rely on GR, specifically YLTO, as well as Amazon (I own a kindle) to find out what new books are coming out. Most of the books I tend to look forward to are those in a series so FictFact will flag that up for me if a new one is coming up if I don't already know.I'm personally looking forward the finale of the Mr Mercedes/Bill Hodge series by Stephen King End of Watch
Then his son, Joe Hill's latest book The Fireman
China Mieville's latest book This Census-Taker
Also the latest in the Gentleman Bastards series (although I've not read the 3rd one yet). I've pre-ordered this one. The release date was last year but it got moved to this year instead. The Thorn of Emberlain
The latest in the Passage trilogy (although I've not read book 2) The City of Mirrors
I think that's it.
:) thank you, yes amazon kindle comes in handy here. (whisper ~ mine should arrive next week, using the kindle app atm)also, I like to search on the internet. and, lists on GR.
books I am looking forward to, include ...
* The Queen of the Night by Alexander Chee
* All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders
* Girl Through Glass by Sari Wilson
* Blackass by A. Igoni Barrett
* A Doubter's Almanac by Ethan Canin
* Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld
* A Collapse of Horses by Brian Evenson
* What Is Not Yours Is Not Yours by Helen Oyeyemi
* Your Heart Is A Muscle The Size of a Fist by Sunil Yapa
... to name a few ;)
Three of Sarah's are on my list as well. We follow the same series and have similar tastes in books:End of Watch by Stephen King
The Fireman by Joe Hill
The Thorn of Emberlain by Scott Lynch.
Add to that:
Age of Myth, a new series by Michael J Sullivan
Stars Above by Marissa Meyer
Freedom of the Mask by Robert McCammon
Children of Earth and Sky by Guy Gavriel Kay
The Curse of Tenth Grave by Darynda Jones
The Darkest Secret by Alex Marwood
The Trespasser by Tana French.
The Widow
I have a whole whack of others on my wishlist, but these are the ones that have really got my attention.
I'm typically oblivious to what gets released when, but I know the last Fairyland book is being released this year, The Girl Who Raced Fairyland All the Way Home, and as I'm just starting the series, the latest Expanse novel is coming out, Babylon's Ashes, so looking forward to reading through to get to it.There's only one book I'm really anticipating, along with the rest of the world: The Winds of Winter. (No pressure, GRRM, I promise!).
Oh yes, that too, Lynda. I'm taking my time with the books in The Song of Ice and Fire. I'm getting read to read book 3, A Storm of Swords.
I have so many that I'm looking forward to this year. The newest that I'm looking forward to is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
These are the ones that I am looking forward to::The Thorn of Emberlain, Scott Lynch
I Shot the Buddha, Colin Cotterill
The Curse of Tenth Grave , Darynda Jones
End of Watch, Stephen King
The Trespasser, Tana French
The Fireman, Joe Hill
Oh and Patrick Rothfuss needs to cough up something soon!☺
Rothfuss and Martin will be 2017 at the earliest I reckon. I'm going to try to forget they exist for a while.
The Awakening of Sunshine Girl

I have been anxious for Passenger and A Court of Mist and Fury. I was not aware that Joe Hill had a new one, definitely on my list!
I never know anything about new releases. I probably have some unreleased books on my tbr but that's just because I see them on other people's tbr and they sound interesting. I'm sure I will add some from this thread too. That's probably why at the end of the year when it's time for the GR awards, I have never read any of the nominated books..
Janice wrote: "Oh yes, that too, Lynda. I'm taking my time with the books in The Song of Ice and Fire. I'm getting read to read book 3, A Storm of Swords."My rule was only one book a year. Then, I saw A Dance with Dragons at Costco, bought it, because I was so excited to see that it'd been released, and couldn't resist, I read it. It's been a long winter to say the least.
Peggy that's me with the GR awards. I was checking out a series that I used to love, but stopped reading a few years ago because it was just tired. I discovered that there are like 15 books since I gave up the ghost. I really do miss releases.
Now I rely on GR to point me towards a book I like.

I'm sure I will add so..."It's the same for me Im often not aware of new releases unless they are series Im already reading. Usually I find out about new releases by paying attention to what my GR friends are reading. I've only ever been able to vote on the GR Awards once for Graphic novel last year.
Peggy wrote: "That's probably why at the end of the year when it's time for the GR awards, I have never read any of the nominated books....."That's why I've made a personal goal of reading at least 12 new releases this year. I get the new releases by author/genre newsletter each month and scour through it.
Kristie wrote: "I have so many that I'm looking forward to this year. The newest that I'm looking forward to is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child."Me too, I've pre-ordered it. It's mostly for my daughter but I'll be reading it as well!
