What?! BoJo is NoGo. He is serious about exiting the immigrants, including himself. What a dramatic and bizarre twist...

On the poison chalice, sadly, we're drinking from the same well. We're doooooooomed (one extra "o" than yours) too.... Somebody, write a dark fantasy novel from all this original material!
Alfred wrote: " We're doooooooomed (one extra "o" than yours) too.... "Is that an American thing... always wanting to be bigger? :-p
I'm already writing the 4th book in my comedy/romance/thriller series, so sorry, no can do with the dark fantasy novel. God, that reminds me that i must get around to finishing my own fantasy novel one day 120k words, and its far from done.
We have much to compensate for our shortcomings. In any case, an extra “o” to “doom” doesn’t make it bigger, just longer. Speaking of which, 120K words! I think I’ll be defeated even before lifting a finger.
Switching gear, I hope someone is planning to buy the FQ paperback with the extra chapter in Aug. If you are that person, you will be the subject of my envy. My library may have it, but doubtful.

Bigger, longer... potatah potaahtah! :-p
Yes, 120k. The story is great, but I think it needs to be a trilogy, and my head is far too full of characters trying to have their say.
I'm probably going to hole up in a corner of a bookstore with the FQ paperback and read the extra chapter, they already got me to pay for the kindle and audio versions!
I shall report back. *secret wink*
News everyone else probably has, but here's a cover and a March 7, 2017 release date for Assassin's Fate: https://www.amazon.com/Assassins-Fate...
Ash09 wrote: "News everyone else probably has, but here's a cover and a March 7, 2017 release date for Assassin's Fate: https://www.amazon.com/Assassins-Fate......"OMG!!! That's the day after my birthday. :-p
Well, what can we garner from that listing....
It's 640 pages, that is shorter than AQ, yes?
What an odd hodge podge of a cover. Why is his foot balancing in mid air? There appears to be a coastal wall behind him, but his foot is not resting on it. How do these cover artists get away with such shoddy work?
Anyhoo...tharrr be dragons, and Clerres in the background, and he's holding Bee's book. There seems to be a continuity error, in the fact that his badgerlock is supposed to be gone. He's not the most attractive model of Fitz, is he? Fitz is supposed to be stuck at 35 visually, but that model looks a bit haggard and in his 50s. And seriously, if a dragon were behind you, would you be nonchalantly staring off into the distance? BUT that's enough moaning from me. I have rarely been happy with F&F covers by Del Rey.
Actually, I hadn't heard the release date. Thanks for that. It's been added to my ever growing list of books to buy.Cover art is rarely great. Case in point, the American editions of the Harry Potter series. The British editions were much better.
Scarletine wrote: "There seems to be a continuity error, in the fact that his badgerlock is supposed to be gone. He's not the most attractive model of Fitz, is he? "I'm not crazy about the cover, either. The continuing badgerlock is an error, as Fitz hasn't had it since Golden Fool. His foot is resting on nothing. Some of the stuff is helpful:
The white hill? or whatever in the background with the four towers must be Clerres, so F&F reach it.
Fitz is holding a book--probably Bee's surviving journal--so it must play a part.
Fitz's beard had started to grey at the end of FQ, so further aging is a possibility. Fitz might look his age by the end of this novel.
Fitz's skin tone, and his surroundings are very grey. Could be something the artist will change, or could be something that reflects the tone of the novel. Grey isn't a cheery color.
By the way, I started up a new discussion thread for Assassins Fate, now that we have a release date and a cover to go by. Please feel free to move on over with your comments.
Alfred wrote: "Ash09, oh, thanks! Nice to have an actual date instead of the previously nebulous "spring 2017"."And now its the more precise 'the day after Scarletine's birthday 2017' It was very thoughtful of the publishers, as *on* my birthday would have stolen my thunder. :-p
Scarletine wrote: "...And now its the more precise 'the day after Scarletine's birthday 2017'"Aw! You get the best almost-birthday present :)
Happy belated (insert desired age)th birthday, and happy birthday in advance if I forget next March. Which is probable as I have the memory of a gnat and…. And… I’m sorry. What were we talking about again? (just kidding, I'll remember. I think.)
Scarletine, we are birthday twins. :) I'm a new fan after just finishing everything leading up to this book back in March. I'm so excited to on the same book as everyone else and experience it as a gift of sorts. :)

Great to have you along on this journey to the next book, its sure to be an emotional rollercoaster.

I'm excited to discuss it with everyone else. I'm sure there will be a lot of emotions.
Heads up everyone. There is a Goodreads Giveaway of paperback copies of Fools Quest going down. You can enter here:https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/sh...
Scarletine wrote: "Goodreads Giveaway of paperback copies of Fools Quest"Thanks much. (10 secs later....) Ah, needs real name and address. Yeah, can't do that even if just between me and GR. Anonymity is too much fun to give up. I still need a neutral and relatively safe place to think things and feel feelings (and be foolishly foolish) that is kept very separate from real life.
Edit: now, if GR was giving free passes to meet Hobb in person, then that would be worth giving up my cover.

Ah, Alfred, with our super spy, secret squirrel skills we could take on the baddies of this world! :-p
Alfred wrote: "Scarletine wrote: "Goodreads Giveaway of paperback copies of Fools Quest"Thanks much. (10 secs later....) Ah, needs real name and address. Yeah, can't do that even if just between me and GR. Anon..."
Well, it's really between you, GR, and Amazon. Of course, Amazon already know your address if you've bought from them, but that's not quite the same as being able to link your address (and purchase history) to your social media account...
Actually, it's between you, GR, Amazon, anyone Amazone feels like sharing that data with, every hacker in the world, and everybody any hacker feels like sharing that data with. So it's just a small circle you'd be opening yourself up to. I believe the list also includes Field Marshal Haig, Field Marshal Haig's wife, all Field Marshal Haig's wife's friends, their families, their families' servants, their families' servants' tennis partners, and some chap Jeff Bezos bumped into in the cafeteria the other day called Bernard...
Ah, Wastrel, but I'm way more paranoid than that. Separate email accounts for GR, Amazon and real life. From three different email hosts. Surely you've seen the overly silly & idiotic stuff I write in GR?! All very cringe-worthy. Out of necessity, my GR persona is self-contained for full deniability in case I'm hacked and you or anyone here turns out to be my neighbor...
Edit: For e.g. a while back, in my GR settings I was apparently following "X", and no one I'm following in my tiny group is named "X". So, yeah, I'm paranoid.
But that's my point!- everything you write here is stored and analysed by Amazon
- if you give GR your address, by definition you're giving Amazon your address; Amazon will link that address to your GR account
- if you've bought things from Amazon, then Amazon already know your address and have linked that address to your Amazon account and the e-mail address you use for Amazon
- when Amazon notice that the two physical addresses are the same, they'll probably take that as a reason to associate your GR account with your Amazon account.
[technically there could be two people at your address, so what they should do is then make sure by comparing your Amazon purchases to your GR shelves. They could do this fairly easily, but it's possible they may not bother, yet.]
Wait, wait! Let me read this through.... So, what you're saying is NOT to give GR your address. That's what I was saying too! Technically, there are more than two people using my address even though they don't live here anymore. (But, I can't control how they manage their GR and Amazon accounts though...Hmm)
Oh, by and large, most of what's listed on GR shelves weren't bought from Amazon, but many of what's NOT listed on GR shelves are...
Haha! I see you think about this stuff too.
Alfred wrote: "Is that you in my garden? Hey, leave my nuts alone! "Alfred

Much as I love nuts, I can't eat them unless they're ground into a flour.
And another thing. I don't trust Amazon either. If you ever share Amazon book links make sure to strip the metadata from the link -that's everything after the book code (B746593TS for example) Because Amazon will delete any reviews from authors if they link them to people they know via social media. Its complete B.S, but blogger friends have had reviews removed, and I have had reviews removed because Amazon can link us.
Parker wrote: "If you're in the USA, though, you're out of luck."Not sure what you mean. How so?
Scarletine: How is a whole nut any different from powdered form, from an allergenic standpoint? Or is it just the preferred texture?

I have a condition (which i won't go into) But basically i cannot eat whole nuts and seeds. So, that makes whole nuts a no, but ground almonds, for instance, are okay.
What a weird conversation we're having :-p
Oh, so sorry! Thanks for reminding me it's weird. Please do let me know when things I say are uncomfortable. I'm terrible with hints and great at going off tangent.Bringing this briefly back to F/F, the emotional core of the story. Every time I read certain chapters or passages, the emotions come slamming back. On a whim, I just re-read the early chapters of FE where they do nothing more than just talk and hang out in quiet companionship, but it feels so meaningful. Strange as it may be, I am actually glad to have this year-long (plus) break between FQ and AF. Just so I can detach myself from the emotions during this long wait and rationally examine why F/F affects me this way. My natural inclination is always to understand feelings down to its most basic level, so that my mind can reconcile with what my heart feels. Clearly, they are not in sync.
Ah, right, yes, the giveaway book. Enjoy!
The book contest is only open to folks in Great Britain and Ireland, not us in America. Very sad about that.

Alfred, nothing you said made me uncomfortable. I just have an odd, very British sense of humor. Innuendo is all part of it. So don't fret buddy! ;-P

I will be forever grateful for your restraint! :-p
The situation is quite ridiculous. The EU leaders are all "get your things, were throught" and the Uk is all "We didn't mean it, can we talk, we love you really" *head deask*
The only good thing is that Sir Phillip Green reportedly lost £350 million because of the leave vote. I call that karma biting him on the ass.
