Clues: story set in No Cal or Pacific NW; female protagonist is a professor or writer by trade; her husband is an environmental scientist; she uncovers a crime being committed by her husband's employer; there is a hilarious scene in which she is at a cocktail party for her husband and her pantyhose begin to fall down and she can't stop them.

Angela, I moved your request to the "Unsolved" folder because you're looking for a specific book.

Is this a cozy mystery? A police procedural?
What crime is being committed by the employer - violent crime, or white collar crime?
Standalone or part of a series?

Angela, what's the overall tone of this romance - funny, chick lit, romantic suspense, erotic, angsty, etc.?
What's the crime - e.g., illegal logging, oil company spill, factory dumping hazardous waste, etc.?

Overall tone was funny and suspenseful; could be considered chick lit, because I'm not sure any man could relate to the dreaded pantyhose malfunction. My recollection is that the crime was the owner of a manufacturing company that was the town's biggest employer. I think they were not properly disposing of waste, damaging the local environment. The husband of the protagonist had just begun working for said manufacturer. I'm not sure if it was a stand alone or not. That's what I'd like to find out, to see if the author wrote any more books.
