Ryan | 5257 comments You have until the 31st of January to post a poem, and February 1-2, we’ll vote for which one we thought was best.

Please post directly into the topic and not a link. Please don’t use a poem previously used in this group.

Your poem can be any length.

This week’s topic is: The Space Between

The rules are pretty loose. You could write a poem about anything that has to do with the subject but it must relate to the topic somehow.

Have fun!

Thanks to Arun for suggesting the topic!

       by Guy Duperreault (FB&C welcome)

There are no more words.
The silence has stony weight
So precarious
That what had been seen as sound
No longer has resonance.

Marie (naturechild02) | 652 comments Title: Deny

Back off a little
Keep away
You cannot be so close
Don’t invade my space
Or get in my personal bubble
Keep your distance
Never touch my skin
Never make direct eye contact
I cannot allow it
If you get too close
If there is no space between us
I cannot hide
These wishes
I cannot deny
My true feelings
Stay far away
So no one will know
How I really feel
No one can know
Least of all you

Edward Davies | 1621 comments Title : Do Anything
Poet : Edward Davies

The space between us
Feels like miles
I’d walk that distance
For your smiles

The space between us
Feels like days
I’d travel far
To feel your gaze

The space between us
Feels like years
I’d move through time
To wipe your tears

The space between us
Feels so wide
I wish I had you
By my side

pages
by a. m. y.

you were there
where it begins
all night
striving for an end

it whispers
captivates
senses and spaces
between

and you crawl
into shadows
where words blend
escaping pinpoint lights
that burn your eyes

spaces between
ivory lace
lines of words
you cannot express

to you this is home
until the end
when you go back
to another story

Ryan | 5257 comments Ghosts at Dawn

Too thin -
you now exist
within

a pause
as dawn retracts
her claws

from day;
you fade, while I
must stay.

any feedback welcome

Did you know there's a tiny
immeasurable space between everything?
No matter how close you are to something,
you'll never actually be touching.

I think it's this fact, which haunts me the most.
Even if I brush against happiness,
I'll never actually touch it.

Ryan, beautiful with such little words. I don't know how you do it!

Jim, I don't have anything to offer in the way of critique since I know nothing of poems, but that imagery was gorgeous.

Edward, the rhymes were perfect. A great poem.

Marie, I feel that way all the time. No one get into my bubble! :] Good job.

A walk along the water's edge
I dare not glace at the horizon
This pond
This vast pond
Perhaps you're on the other side
Walking along the water's edge

Meenakshi Raina | 32 comments Eternal Love

The Earth keeps revolving round the Sun,
She loves Sun but, only from a distance,

Majestic Sun is helpless, can't embrace her,
How can he turn his beloved to ashes,

Both never curse the space in between, and,
Distances mutely witness their eternal love.

C.P. Cabaniss (CPCabaniss) | 236 comments Promise in the Light of Day

Whispered promises
in the dark of night
You brushed my lips
with a kiss
Feather light fingertips
across my skin
The space between us
was so thin
Until the cold like a knife
cut right in
Whispered promises
touched by the light of day
We never could have
kept them anyway

Light passes in between
Air flows in between
The man sees hope
He grabs the rope

It this space in between
That separates him from salvation
It this space in between
That gives him animation

Arun Iyer (aruniyer) | 366 comments The Affair

Me and you are like,
moth to a flame.
The space between us,
keeps me alive.
The surreal, loving moon,
always guides me.
But I am unable to overcome,
your mere presence.
I wonder if its my destiny,
to be devoured by you.

Gretchen Guerrettaz (gretchiepoo24) | 44 comments Space Between

It's funny how we think--
thinking all we need,
is the space between.
Hoping it could be,
our complex remedy.

When really
it's the fire
that we're feeding.
