A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 998 comments This is a day or so early but I'll forget otherwise. Elizabeth let me know if you want an author interview this month and I'll send over the questions.

Stan Morris (morriss003) I was just reading your post about geocaching. You always have some of the most interesting ideas. What do think is your best idea?

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 998 comments Elizabeth, what made you write this particular book? Where did you get the idea?

Tweeted and Google Plused. Interesting thing. I could not do Google Plus in Firefox, because the bottom of the window was too low. I had to copy the link and paste into Chrome.

Elizabeth, suppose you were offered a humongous book advance to write a historical fiction. What subject would you write about?

ooh, don't let me even start about Apple! I'm a proud owner of i-Nothing and intend to remain so for the rest of my life! :D (I don't even have a Smartphone, imagine an i-phone or all that i-stuff...)

How long does this last? I don't have much set up on this computer.

message 16: by Stan (new)

Stan Morris (morriss003) Entered. I've never tried one of these. Have you done others? What was your experience, and what were the results?

message 17: by A.L., Stormy Chronicler (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 998 comments I've never had that much luck with giveaways either.

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 998 comments That is probably a good point.

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1194 comments I don't do blog tours. If someone is kind enough to invite me over to his/her blog (either in return for an interview on mine or out of the blue), I'll go, but I'm not actively looking for blog tours.
I have hosted friends doing blog tours, but I have no idea of how their sales went after the blog tour.

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1194 comments I'd rather be off writing - and I won't pay for any advertising service (be it a FB ad a Bookbub thingy or a blog tour)! :)
I can tell you this:
Facebook "likes" don't sell books.
Blog followers don't always buy your books.
If only each and every follower I have on Facebook and my blog bought my books, I'd be much better off.
I keep having new followers on my blog... do I sell more books? No.
So why bother with blog tours?
I already pay the editors/proof-readers and sometimes the cover artists, I don't want to waste money on advertising that may or may not work! :)
And did I mention I'd rather be off writing the next book? ;)

message 21: by Stan (new)

Stan Morris (morriss003) Have you ever tried a Google Ad? I'm trying two right now. One is directed at Australia and the other is directed at India. So far, a total bust.

Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) | 1194 comments I'm going to try this soon - to start gathering people for my newsletter (since only one person signed through the widget on my blog's sidebar):

I already opened an account, I will upload the first story this weekend. I will change the story every month... I'll let you know how it goes! :)

I have a couple of sales I definitely know about via facebook and a few via my blog but it is a few. What works? Who the hell knows. Word of month for sure, a mix of things, networking, luck.

Thanks for the info. I did create an account and I uploaded a book. We'll see. I got an email a day after suggesting that I pay $125 to be advertised in one of the mailings.
