~ Sub-Genre of the Month for May, 2014 ~

Small Town Lovin’ Romance: We are looking for the charm and ambiance of small town life, in search of the old-fashioned intimacy of knowing all one’s neighbors... and them knowing all about the heroine’s love-life! We’re going to flex our muscle and deem these only Contemporary, as this close-knit environment in Historical Romances may be found in the Frontier Romance / Americana Romance sub-genre above. (Examples on GRs’ shelf Small-Town-Lovin’. Also on GRs’ listopia Best Small Town Romance and Small Town Romance.)
Special Note: The above is the definition for our Sub-genre Challenge: Romance (Revised & Revisited for 2014!). For this SGOM, if you are desperate, you may use an Historical Romance set in a small town.

⚜️Trea (duskrider3740) | 1319 comments Wow, Lady Luck must be smiling on us this month! As a part of Gisela's challenge, we have a listing for small town romance, which totally works in with this challenge too! Since I'm participating over there with that listing and using The Next Always by Nora Roberts, I think I'll use it over here too. If I get ambitious, I may try to read a second one this month, but we'll have to see.

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 361 comments Maybe I'll reread some Lori Foster or some Linda Howard. I haven't reread Mackenzie's Mountain or Say No To Joe? in a long time.

message 25: by KarenF (new)

KarenF (cleocleveland) | 458 comments I finished Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors (Jane Jameson, #4) by Molly Harper yesterday. It manages to combine last month's vampire SG with this month's small town.

Like the rest of the series this one was really funny. I know she's written other books set in Half Moon Hollow but I think I'll miss Jane's wacky POV.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Finished Breathe (Colorado Mountain) by Kristen Ashley and It Had to Be You (Lucky Harbor, #7) by Jill Shalvis

The first one was a good KA book, not my favorite though. But I like her books set in Carnal, Colorado.

And the second was a short, sweet visit to Lucky Harbor. Always a good thing!

Nichole | 512 comments I finished Waiting On You (Blue Heron #3) by Kristan Higgins yesterday and really liked it. Her last two books are more serious and missing some of the humor that has made me such a huge fan. Still, it was good and it definitely pulled on the heartstrings.

LK, I haven't checked out the audio for this series, but I do enjoy the series. The first book is pretty funny. There are a number of surprise pregnancies within the series (I mean really, don't we know how this works?), but the main characters are now mostly new people who have moved to town rather than people from the original set of books.
