Have you read Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen?
I have tried to read Pride and Prejudice (2 times), but dropped after 40%.
But Northanger Abbey is gothic (one of my fav. genre.), so I was considering it.

I suppose these books are to you what Little Women is to me. I could never proceed beyound the first chapter for some reason or the other. But now the timing seems right for another attempt.

I concur!

I pushed through chapter one and looking forward to the next. I like it so far though it reads so far like a tale with a moral :)

message 21: by Pranjali (new)

Pranjali | 767 comments Hehe that happens, when you become too engrosed in the book ;) but obviously understandable since the book is soo good!!!!

Because I am very busy this weekend and cant be able to read at all

message 28: by Steffi (new)

Steffi Varghese | 64 comments No problem. Monday Cometh :P

message 29: by Steffi (new)

Steffi Varghese | 64 comments And now I am on the 9th chapter. The part where in Amy nearly drowns. There are observations in the book so keen and sharp in this chapter.

Like the part where Jo discovers that her fierce temper is something that she had inherited from Marmee, which is such a surprise! It is always shocking to know that we might have inherited character strengths or flaws from parents or even grandparents. Or to realise they weren't as sober as they are now when they were young.

message 30: by Pranjali (new)

Pranjali | 767 comments I am nearly half done :)
Am on the part where Mr. Elton got married, jane was came to live with her aunt and Mr. Churchill made an appearance.......
