I'm reading this right now for week 12: a childhood classic. So far, I'm enjoying it but I'm sure I would have liked it a lot more reading it as a child.

She is the last unicorn, but she cannot believe. She decides to leave the safety of her forest to see if this could possibly be true. Along the way she hears rumors about The Red Bull and of King Haggard. She must go see the King, certainly he can tell her what became of the other unicorns. Through her travels she meets and is joined by Schmendrick and Molly who are just as eager to know about the fate of the unicorns.
I read this for the 2016 Topic Discard Challenge (a book published when your parents were teenagers).
Words cannot express how much I loved this book! I was a fan of the movie growing up as a child, and it made me nervous to read the book. I was worried that Rankin and Bass would have changed too much of what Beagle had written. To my pleasant surprise they barely altered a thing. As best as I can tell they took out a few things that really did not impact the story, but nothing was changed. Lovely book. Lovely movie.
