"Fantasy is hardly an escape from reality. It's a way of understanding it." -Lloyd AlexanderFirst book series you loved as a kid?
I love Beverly Cleary's books too! It's hard for me to pick just one favorite character, so it's probably either Princess Eilonwy from "The Chronicles of Prydain" by Lloyd Alexander; or Beth Ellen Hansen from "The Long Secret" by Louise Fitzhugh.

Lol, too bad about the foiled attempt!
The Crooked Hinge, for the dramatics, the intrigue and the overall wacky quotient.
Favourite holiday moment?
My oldest daughter kept being told by her friends and cousins that Santa didn't exist. I told her to let me know when she stopped believing in him so I could call and let him know not to come to our house anymore. (I told her that when you have a baby the hospital gives you the phone numbers of Santa, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy etc in case you need to talk to them.) She said she believed but I could see her questioning it. So my husband on Christmas Eve put ashes on his shoes and walked around the fireplace. She'd always get up around 4am so see what was left every Christmas. This Christmas she ran upstairs to our bed yelling, "I have proof!" She showed us the footsteps. She called her friends and cousins and said that she had proof that Santa had come to our house so he was real. That held her for a couple of more years.
