My 18-year old son also has his ideas and loves to test them in an argument. But if I refer to research or other articles, his answer is "it´s fake news" - just to provoke me...
I always told myself I would never go to audiobooks, however whilst doing the Popsugar Challenge I have come across prompts that really did not appeal to me at all. I've got around this by listening to the audiobook rather than reading. Makes things a lot easier!
Does anyone know if there is an official hashtag for this challenge, like, for bookstagrammers, bloggers and such?
Maja - wrote: "Does anyone know if there is an official hashtag for this challenge, like, for bookstagrammers, bloggers and such?"On the original Pop Sugar Challenge post for 2019 they used the following hashtag #popsugarreadingchallenge

Do you count books reread as part of the challenge? Since it seems to be a personal decide, I will. Just wondering what others feel. And any good links to free audio books online? As I don't have an audiobook subscription (can't afford)

Definitely count rereads!
Hey all...i am brand new to the popsugar reading challenge and i was wondering if i can use some of the prompts in the advanced section instead of using the prompts in the regular section...does that make sense??? I am also going to work my way through the last few years of the challenges as well

Forgive me if this isn’t the correct thread to ask, but...With the monthly discussion reads, is there a structure for the discussion? Or perhaps a chapter breakdown (for ex: chapter 1-4 during week 1 of selected month)? Or is the discussion (thread) just kind of a free-for-all?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Amanda,
It's up to the individual discussion leaders how they choose to organize discussion. I think most of them have tried to divide their questions up to progress through the book. Maybe week 1 would be questions from the first quarter of the book and so on. This helps to avoid some spoilers if people are discussing as they read. But as I said, we leave it up to the leaders to decide that.
Does anyone have recommendations for books that I can check out on Libby ASAP (without a hold)? I’d love to get started reading now but I’m out of the house. I’m not too picky and they can be for any prompt. Thanks so much!
Ash wrote: "Can someone explain what Aoc means? i know poc, and woc, and most other similar acronyms, but can't find that one in context that makes sense to me."Do you have a context?
@Elena, that's hard to answer since the books available on Libby (or Overdrive) are different from library to library (libraries within the same area are often one entity depending where you live). But as a rule, it's the new books that are on hold. So, if I were you I would look at some of the prompts and the suggestions here and see if anything looks appealing to you, and then look it up in Libby.

Multiple Challenge confusion LOL... Ash, Book Riot is using AOC this year in place of POC... they mean "Author of Color"

Author of Color :-)
And for historical romance I recommend:
Zen Cho
Sherry Thomas
Courtney Milan
Alyssa Cole
other authors to look at:
Jeannie Lin
Beverly Jenkins

Did anyone / does anyone remember if someone suggested The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz for one of the 2019 prompts?I ordered a copy from Amazon marketplace at 4am on New Year’s Day but didn’t make a note about which prompt I intended to use it for!
I’m sure I was scanning through some of the suggestions and someone had recommended it.

I think I saw it listed as an option for Amateur Detectives.
Thanks Em Jay. My resolution this year should have been to stop ordering things from Amazon in the middle of the night!

I use it as a last resort but at least it’s a way of seeing if a book might be a good read. I’ve got Ready Player One today for the LitRPG as surprisingly it was available, not something I think I’ll find in my library.
Hello. I was wondering if Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen by Serena Valentino would count towards a retelling of a classic?Thank you.
Monica wrote: "Hello. I was wondering if Fairest of All: A Tale of the Wicked Queen by Serena Valentino would count towards a retelling of a classic?Thank you."
I say yes. Snow White is a classic Fairy tale.

Thank you! I thought so but wanted a second opinion!
I have a suggestion. We read a monthly book, why not have it on the home page? It's easier to find that way by putting it in the currently reading shelf.

I'm always up for suggestions to make things easier, but I'm not sure if I understand. Do you mean to add the book to the "currently reading" bookshelf for the group? I confess I NEVER use those bookshelves so I forget they are there.

Yes, that's what I mean. When you'll add it to the currently reading bookshelf or to-read shelf, they'll appear on the home page. You can also mention the folder there in which it is being held. So everyone will know which book is being read as they visit the group.
I suggested this becauee when I joined, I didn't notice that a book was being read.
Thank you for listening :)

Then, later, you can look through that tag for books that are currently available.
I don't think I am "bookmarking" correctly. I'm clicking the date/time on the upper right of my post, but I'm not seeing anything happen. Should I be getting an option to bookmark? How do I find it afterwards? I know how to bookmark the whole site at the top of my browser, but I'm not thinking that is what is meant.Thank you for any assistance.
When you click on the date/time, the address in your browser bar updates to include the specific location of your comment. You then save the page as a favourite/bookmark on your browser as you would any web page. When you open it from your favourites/bookmarks, it will jump directly to wherever your comment is on the page. There isn't a specific feature to do that in Goodreads itself (which is a bit annoying...)

Is there a post for when you are done with the whole challenge? I only have 2 more books to read but they are not out for another 10 days. :(
Yeah we usually create a post for that, but never thought someone would want it in February! You're like the Indy 500 of readers!
Nadine wrote: "Yeah we usually create a post for that, but never thought someone would want it in February! You're like the Indy 500 of readers!"Ya. I'm a very fast reader, don't watch tv and have sleep issues. :)

Hi all, not sure where to ask but something happened on Goodreads and I can no longer edit my booklist. Does anyone know how I can edit?
The "edit" feature is only available when using browser mode of Goodreads. Under your post in the lower right corner you should see options for "edit" "delete" and "reply" (not necessarily in that order), and clicking on "edit should open your post in a teeny tiny edit window (I wish we could make that larger!!). If that's not happening, you have to contact Goodreads for help. I've reached out to them a few times and they've always been friendly and helpful.
Nadine wrote: "... teeny tiny edit window (I wish we could make that larger!!). ..."The edit window has a drag-able corner (look at the bottom right). I move the window to put it near the top of my screen (but leave room to click the "add book/author" link), then drag the bottom right corner down and to the right to make the window deeper and wider.

Yeah I thought that might exist for some people! The drag-able corner is not available for me - I use an old version of I-Explorer on my old computer, and I use Safari on my phone, and neither one lets me re-size. I have all sorts of trouble using the "browser" version on my phone, I don't know why, but it's very persnickety.

I'm over 4months late...but I finally finished the 2018 challenge. I thought I had seen a thread for posting completions...but I couldn't find it. If I'm not mistaken, could someone please lead me to the right thread? Thanks.

Oh I need to read that article! My 15 year old daughter has taken the stand that listening to audiobooks is not "really" reading - and you know how teenagers love to dig in on their position ;-) My POV is: I KNOW how to read, and in fact it is easier AND faster for me to read with my eyes, listening to an audiobook is more difficult for me, so how can it be "cheating"? (to be clear: my daughter has never accused me of "cheating" - she doesn't care how many books I read, she just doesn't like audiobooks). It's good exercise for my brain to process audiobooks as well as paper books & e-books.
